A series of unfortunate events
Newest Lunargyros pages are from Friday, and there's two of them available here. I have now officially finished thumbnailing the rest of LG, so I know how many pages are left to do. It's...a really, really weird feeling. @____@

Nnnnngh this has really not been the best of weeks...especially yesterday. X( After all that art test work, I found out that the egg didn't hatch. I was really counting on this one, too, and am more than a little disappointed. Just...for once, I'd like ONE of these eggs to hatch. I've got a full basket of unhatched ones and it's more than a little discouraging.

Yesterday at internship was really busy, which normally is fine, but about half of that time I spent battling LA traffic. I went to go pick up some massive-heavy camera equipment, but couldn't find the place at first because the address was wrong, had to wait forever for them to get the equipment together, had a bunch of communication snafus to make sure I actually had everything, and then when I attempted to return to the studio I tried to reverse the directions to get there and ended up going in a huge circle. It took me like an extra hour or so to finally fumble around until I found the nearest freeway and go from there. This was after a day of mostly cleaning and moving around stuff for their Sunday event.

Aaaand on top of all that, I'm pretty sure I have (or am getting) an ear infection. XC My balance is off and I'll get this world-spinning sensation, particularly when I'm lying in bed or twisting my head to the side. I've also got this pressure in my sinus and throat, and now my ears are starting to hurt on occasion. So this probably means spending money on a doctor's visit (thanks useless insurance), and maybe antibiotics or something. Suck suck suuuuuuck. XP

At least tomorrow should be better, since it's time for another Disneyland trip! We're planning to go on both Star Tours and The Little Mermaid since they just opened/reopened, plus lunch reserved at Blue Bayou. 8D So many goooood things. And since I have a shiny smart phone now, I can do posties about it from Disneyland itself!

Finally, here's a bunch of waking-up drawings...

Your usual update dose
I feel like all I post nowadays is my morning art and Lunargyros, buuut I guess as long as people keep enjoying them, that's not so bad... |D

So here's the latest Lunargyros page.

And of course the latest waking-up drawings, plus one colored one...

Under-covers drawings 70-73, plus more )

Otherwise, I'm still waiting to hear back on the art test, which is aaaaaah nerve-wracking. Internship is getting a bit busier, which is nice at least, although mostly I would rather be working on projects there. Really lookin' forward to the weekend, since we'll be doing Disneyland. XD

I also got a new phone! It is a smart phone; the first one I've ever had, and an Android. It's going to take me some time to get used to it...I've never been much of a cell phone person. Now I'll have internet with me everywhere I go AND THAT IS A STRANGE THOUGHT. I AM USED TO STATIONARY INTERNET.

And now I must head off to watch newest Nostalgia Critic...

Everybody was kung-fu fiiiiighting
New Lunargyros page is up; give it a look-see
Speaking of, there's a new page of it up; you can read it here.

Internship had more to do today: did a run (uuuugh LA traffic), talked to cool concept artist dude more, and even helped with an actual project (even if it was just uploading files. It was A THING.) All in all it's still been pretty slow, though. Guess we just hit it at the opposite of peak season.

Went and saw Kung-Fu Panda 2 tonight with my family! (Holy crap, the first time we've actually had the whole family together in...almost a year, I think?) And I enjoyed it! Beautiful animation, the fight scenes were SOOO much fun to watch, and there was more of the 2D animation! Especially the opening sequence, aaaaaah I looooove unique art styles applied to animation like that. SO pretty. As for the story and just the movie overall, I dunno if it was any better or worse than the original...they felt about equal to me. I thought this movie was actually a bit darker than the first; there were a few times where I teared up. (Of course, that could just be me getting old and sentimental.) It was nice that they let this movie be its own story with its own lesson, instead of an attempt to rehash the first or stuff it full of even more pop culture in-jokes. (If any, I think there may have been less this time.)

Also, Gary Oldman as Shen, the peacock villain, was a LOT of fun. He was a bit hammy (no more so than Tai Lun in the first one, though), but DANG he looked so awesome in the fight scenes. I want to go back and watch all those fight scenes with Shen in slow-motion, because there's such great MOVEMENT in seeing a peacock do kung-fu, as if he was using his whole body as a fan to fight with. So yeah...overall, I enjoyed it! Definitely stood on its own and didn't fall into the same sequel traps that DW has fallen into with the Shrek or Madagascar franchises.

Speaking of cool animation: Pixar, I am disappoint. You've made all these great movies and we know you can do it, so how about letting a woman at the helm for once? You had one on board for Brave, and then dropped her? Now DW has beaten you to the punch! (Pun not intended!) I know there are many female (and otherwise) storytellers like me who would, y'know, really appreciate it if you acknowledged our existence and gave us a chance for once. :/

Here's more waking-up drawings...been having a lot of weird or frightening dreams lately (probably related to this potential job stress), so a bunch of images are me trying to get down stuff from dreams...

*Needs to update on time more*
*FLOPS* Not much to report currently...I finished the art test I was working on today, and need to send it on tomorrow. Hope hope hope I will hear back on it soooooon *crosses fingers* I think I did pretty well with both pieces, and I wish I could post them here. I also got to play around with a fun new (free!) software that I did not even know existed, and I may try using it more in the future, because I can see it being useful for many things...particularly for cityscapes or just buildings in general. Otherwise, I've mostly been busy at the internship, at work or working on LG.

Speaking of, there's a new page of it up; you can read it here.

I'm starting to crave some new KH news...can we hear more about KH3D at E3 maybe, please?

Also, at MST3K night tonight, we ended up watching the movie 'Clue' (yes, based on the board game) which I had not seen before. It was actually a lot of LOL! I now get where the "flames on the side of my face" line comes from!

I also seem to be suffering from some strange...brain effects, but I dunno whether it's anything serious or not... ><

And ALSO speaking of strange brain things, here's a catching-up of waking-up drawings:

Under-covers drawings 64-68 )

While hanging around the internship, I also ended up doodling a bunch of reindeer. Not very good doodles, sob, but hopefully at least a bit fun:

Arrrrrrrt me mateys
The newest Lunargyros page is up here! Yay for somewhat announcing it here on time! 8Db

Pirates on Thursday night was a bunch of fun! Hung out with friends at the soda fountain before the movie started, where I shared the pin traders sundae with Kia (dangit I loooove that sundae...) We got into the theater around 11, and the organ player was there doing a ton of Disney tunes and Disneyland ride tunes. 8D That guy is so awesome.

As for the movie itself, it was pretty fun! Not as good as the first, but much tighter and more concise than the second or third ones. I think at times it still veered too close to grimdark and not close enough to the goofiness of the first one, but again, it was doing better. Jack was hilarious as always, Barbossa was definitely interesting, and Blackbeard was very intimidating. Probably one of the scariest pirate villains in awhile. Angelica was also pretty fun...not as cool as Quorra when it comes to lead-female-in-recent-live-action-Disney-movies, but cool 'nuff. Also, that priest. Dang, he was nice with his shirt off.

Yeah, that's my non-spoilery review. |D I recommend seeing it!

Got the art test, so now it's just a matter of doing it and rocking it! I wish I had more time nowadays; these past few weeks have been so busy, but I'll get it done one way or another! Need to do some architectural examples. I think I have some ideas for it now...I started trying to do a mockup model of one of the pieces yesterday while at the internship, but by the end of the day I wasn't terribly happy with it. So I'll just redo it. :P I've discovered that when it comes to drawing things like buildings/cityscapes/architecture, I prefer doing a quick model of it in 3D first and then drawing/painting over a snapshot of that model. Your perspective is always correct when using a model, and it's a lot easier to tweak and be creative with a piece of architecture in 3D than it is on paper, at least for me. Don't think I'll be able to post those here, since aha art test, but oh well.

Here be the latest waking-up drawings:

Here's the new Lunargyros page (sheesh I keep being behind on posting these here), but yeah, it's up here.

Had phone interview yesterday and I think it went well enough! I am waiting to receive an art test, since that's the next step. Despite the scary parts (mostly the moving part), I'm...really really hoping that this job works out. ;o; At least from the phone interview, it sounds like a really nice setup, and a good way to have some long-term work. So...please hatch, little egg!

In the meanwhile, going to be up super-ultra-late for the midnight premiere of Pirates at El Capitan! 8D Heading out there with [livejournal.com profile] yamikonumber7, [livejournal.com profile] corrielle, Rae and others! I am teh excite. XD El Capitan + Disney soda fountain is always a lot of fun, enough to lose sleep over it.

Ooof, I've got a big backlog of waking-up drawings to post...so heeeere we go:

Weekend of busy-ness
Yikes, meant to update earlier, but this past week has been busy and this next week is gonna be even busier! So, random things...

There's a new Lunargyros page from Friday, up here. A new one will be up tomorrow too. XD

Internship has been going okay thusfar; I had lots more to do on Friday. I talked to the concept artist some about various things and he was pretty cool, but spent most of my time doing a ton of runs, so it was a looooot of driving all over the place. Up to Santa Monica and back, and then up to North Hollywood and back. And on the last one, I got a ticket for my trouble...parked in a metered spot, and I didn't have change on me. I figured since I'd be in and out in ten minutes, it wouldn't be an issue. Obviously this wasn't the case, since in the ten minutes I was gone I got a ticket. -_- Nnnnnnnnnnngggggh. It was entirely my fault, but still, just an annoyance. And I guess we're still working out what to do for our projects...

Yesterday, went with [livejournal.com profile] yamikonumber7, [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada and Kristin to Disneyland for Kia's birthday! It was pretty awesome and we did most everything in both parks. XD Although when we went on Indy, a bunch of the lights were off (like the rats and the fire in the skull), probably as a result of them having troubles with the ride earlier in the day. Also, we found out from one of the pin traders that OMG, D-Land is actually releasing a limited edition Kingdom Hearts pin at an event next month. 8O NEED TO GET ON THAT LEIKWOAH. Disneyland never releases their own KH merch, so the fact that they're actually putting out their own pin is BLOWING MY MIND. Pin traders will trade KH pins, but usually you'll only find KH pins at Hot Topic (WTF?), so they're very rare...and there's like, five of them total. I'm no pin trader (ahaha too expensive for me), but I just want the KH one. 8D

Kia even convinced me to go on Tower of Terror, even though I do not like drop rides. |D And we finished it off with ElecTRONica, where I actually got one of their liquor drinks. I haven't had alcohol in like...four years, and I wasn't driving home, so I figured I could indulge myself this once. I think I was reminded why I never drink alcohol...the tuscan lemonade-martini thing I got was STRONG; especially for a teenyweight like me. I did manage to down the whole thing, but yeah, it was pretty strong for me. The rest of the night I felt warm in my face and very tired. We did some games at Flynn's Arcade, and then on the way out we ran into [livejournal.com profile] scifichicx, [livejournal.com profile] ald_fan_girl and [livejournal.com profile] lady_entropy17, so it was total funtimes!

I've got a phone interview this Wednesday that I'm of course a bit nervous about...if it didn't work out, oh well, but if it did, it would mean a lot of sudden big changes on my end. @_@

Waking-up drawings will have to come at a time when I have access to a scanner. |D

There's actually two new Lunargyros pages up from yesterday, and this marks the end of this chapter! Big ol' things will be happening in the next chapter...

So I went ahead and started Okamiden, and I may have to take a break from the levelgrinding and item-grinding in Dissidia 012 for awhile, because Okamiden is adoooooorable. And yes, had to spout off commentary while I was playing...

There's a new Lunargyros page up today, you can read it here.

I hope everyone had a good Easter weekend, and if not an Easter one, then just a good weekend! I still have much candy left, nommm. I am still in a mess about what I will be doing in the fall, and trying to figure out what I should do...

Over the course of the week I've been playing more Dissidia, and finished up through 013. So I have more commentary to post, but it's just on all the reports that I unlocked from playing through 013.

New boards dump
Furfles, I am both quite happy and really frustrated. Frustrations are related to RP things (but not related at all to Second City things; so don't fear SC dudes). I guess there is not much I can do about it now except wait off this disappointment and wait in general to see how things go. XP

Luckily, the more important things are happy, and that is that People Whose Opinions Matter For My Career really liked the last storyboard I did! This means that I am slowly improving on my boards and am getting closer to Dream Job goals! XO/ Hopefully I will continue to improve! So now I'll share this board with you dudes:

Blob Police
Sorry dudes: no new Dissidia commentary yet, since I've been spending most of my time leveling up the characters. (Oh, level grinding!) May be able to continue story stuff tonight or tomorrow.

For some reason this morning I spent looking up 4D objects/tesseracts, 10th-dimension theories and watching the Flatland movie on YouTube. It's all really super cool, but now my brain is sort of stuck on extra-dimensional visualization and it's preventing me from getting much of anything done. Except I suppose in the fifth dimension I haven't watched these videos and therefore have gotten more done, I just cannot observe this dimension as nothing more than a shadow on my present reality, even though in actuality this reality and the one in which I got more stuff done are existing simultaneously along with everything and anything else and I need only fold the fourth dimension to see both these things at once. Um, I think.

QUANTUM PHYSICS ARE DISTRACTING.

Now time for COMPLETE TOPIC CHANGE

So my little bro has come home from Germany last night. It's been really good to see him again, although also kind of interesting, because it's all a reminder again of the fact that Sunshine isn't here and we still miss her. To that end, mom has been talking about us getting a new dog; probably a puppy. And it's a weird thought to me...on a very large level, I miss having a dog and all the love and happiness that comes from them. The family feels rather empty without Sunshine in our lives. And at the same time, a small part of me feels weird about the fact that it'd be a different dog, and not Sunshine. The intellectual part of me knows that it's not replacing Sunshine, that a new dog would be an entirely different person with a different personality...like adding a new member to a family. But a teeny bit of the emotional part of me is still going "...but I miss Sunshine. :("

In any case, I need to inflict more MST3K and even My Little Pony on bro now that he's home. XD

OTHER COMPLETE TOPIC CHANGE

I got accepted into a summer internship at Zoic! :O Huzzah and hurrah! It'd be unpaid and only two days a week, but that works out pretty decent for me, and it's an opportunity for work experience and learning and even a potential job, at a company that seems to work on some pretty cool things. I'm a nervous boo, but hopefully everything shall go well starting in May.

Sorry dudes, I don't really have any April Fools things planned for today. |D Taking Kia to the airport again (where we will once again hunt down bad books at the closing-for-good Borders), and then plunging back into arts. Mostly because I now finally own a copy of Dissidia 012, and want to dive into it as soon as I get enough important things done! And yes, there will be commentary.

Sorry I haven't been around for awhile, dudes...was spending most of the past week working on that animation project, and now just waiting for the confirmation that it's done and good and all that. Sooner I hear on that, the better.

And then, very suddenly after finishing that, I got bit hard by the spring cleaning bug. I ended up spending the last two days totally cleaning out and organizing my closet, which reeeeally needed it. But now it looks SO MUCH BETTER.

Includes photos! )

I also got the urge to try and do something new with drawing/daily drawing exercises...having my sketchbook by my bed and having it so that the very first thing I do when I wake up is draw something. So far the results have been...interesting. My lines get a little flowy and I've found myself drawing without restraint or any kind of mental censor, since I'm still only about half-awake. It's like stuff goes straight from the brain to the page without anything inbetween.

I've been working all week on this sudden-flash project, with the first pass needing to be done by tomorrow. I really hope I don't have to make that many changes to it, because I literally do not have the time to make it as long and elaborate as I suspect the client is thinking. Guh, this is probably the most stressful freelance thing I've done. T_T I'll be happy when I get it done. (And also will be happy to get some more monies from it, since this way I can actually justify getting Dissidia 012 when it's out...)

The two books I ordered came today! Dream Worlds and Framed Ink, which look very informative/inspirational and I need to read through.

New Lunargyros page is up this week; read it here. I just finished a massive chunk of pages at once (at least compared to what I usually do) so I may do another double update month later.

Went in for an interview today at a studio in Culver City...not for a paid job, but for an unpaid internship, but it would still be good to do because experience/references/resume padding/etc. So, hoping that that'll work out! I won't hear about it for weeks, though.

Aaaand I have finished up the rest of the MLP requests! I think at this point, if I do any more ponies they'll be commissions only, since I unfortunately do have other projects to get to. |D like reindeer story stuff, aaaugh I'm so behind

Things on a screen
There's a new Lunargyros page up, you can read it here.

I was gonna talk about the Oscars, wasn't I? Well, long and short of it, went "okay cool" at some of it and was disappointed at a bunch of it. Tron, Tangled and HTTYD all got shafted. :| Tron should've gotten a score nomination anyway, or a VFX award. HTTYD definitely deserved score, and I wished it'd gotten Best Animated (with TS3 taking Best Picture, ahahaa like that'd ever happen.) Tangled definitely deserved best original song. I wasn't surprised that The King's Speech took Best Picture and a bunch of the other awards, 'cause it was really good. But let's be honest...10 years from now, people will remember Toy Story 3, not The King's Speech.

Also, not that impressed with the hosts. That kids' chorus at the end was way more impressive. Bring back Hugh Jackman, he was entertaining!

Yesterday was all day at the Gnomon preview day, which went pretty well! Finally got to talk in person with the recruiter from Nickelodeon, since I've just been emailing her previously. Also said hi to the people from Thinkwell, they totally remembered the silly movie I'd worked on there. XD The cool people from Wet Design were there, as was that slightly unsettling guy. We'll see if I get any actual bites from yesterday. Speaking of, I should write Alison again...

So I gave in and watched the first few episodes of the new My Little Pony. And...yeah, I can see why people won't stop gushing about that show now. It's somehow both teeth-rotting cute and REALLY ADDICTING. HELP I CAN'T STOP. Expect ponies art from me later...

I also may need to watch (or at the very least do some studies) for a more action-oriented show...I hear Young Justice has been quite good? Anyone know if that's an action series worth seeing?

Gummi ship and Keyblade glider AMV!
Just to start: there's a new Lunargyros page up yesterday, you can read it here.

Ohhhhh man, I FINALLY FINALLY finished this AMV that has eaten my brain for the past few days! Seriously, I don't know what it is about these things, but it just becomes impossible to focus on anything else. Now maybe my brain can get back to the rest of my life. 8D I struggled a bunch on this one...there were a few things that I wanted to do effects-wise, but for whatever reason I just couldn't hack it, even after wrestling with masks for hours. Buuut instead I compromised and was able to get similar effects.

SO YEAH. I've wanted to do a KH AMV or some kind of video about gummi ships and Keyblade gliders for awhile, and then finally heard this song and it totally fit so I had to do it. Have yourself a fun AMV about gliders and gummis...thoughts are greeeatly appreciated!

And the sun rises again
There's a new Lunargyros page up today; read it here.

Weekend with all sorts of friends and hanging out was pretty awesome. Been working most of the day on boarding since there's another employer preview days coming up, and I wanted new material to show around. So that's been taking up most all of my time.

Today I was cutting a slice of bread for myself for lunch, and I went and sliced up a nail on my left hand. DX ARRRRGH. Totally painful and blood everywhere and so completely not cool. I have it all wrapped up in bandages now, and I'm hoping the nail will heal, because there's a big jagged cut across it and it makes it really difficult to do anything with two hands. :(

Also, since I think I've pretty much come to a stopping point for them (for now), gonna post the Okami board I did! I was going to have it as an animatic with music, but nnnngh I couldn't get the timing satisfactory, so it's just stills. It's also probably the longest and most action-oriented one I've done. XD

Lotsa images under the cut )

There are two new Lunargyros pages up today; you can read 'em here.

Man, I am glad it's the weekend tomorrow, I could use some breaktimes. Been working on a bunch of different things; just hoping they pay off. I keep having to make edits to the Okami boards, but I thiiiiink they should be done now. Just need one or two more checks. :P I still wish I could get the timing right.

HOWEVER, managed to finish another scene of the reindeer story! Apologies for the fact that it's so short; I'll admit I had trouble trying to figure out what to do at this point. At least it's something after that awful long wait. Short scene inside:
