I'm Game
I'm once again in that kind of do-not-work slump that I tend to hit right at the end of the year, with the expectation that once the new year hits I'll have a full schedule of projects to dive right into. And, at least in this case, I do. |D Even unemployed or underemployed, I never lack something to work on.

Although right now, I've mostly just been playing video games all day, and trying to do it as guilt-free as possible. Since my little bro is here for Christmas and I rarely see him otherwise, we kinda use this as our own hanging-out-time, anyway! I've started Ocarina of Time on the 3DS, which has been a lot of fun so far, even if I fail at a lot of it. (Like throwing bombs...horse-riding...using a shield...etc.) It really is such a lovely game; I can see how it's endured so long. My bro also started me in on Paper Mario while he's here with the Wii, so it looks like I've been doing a bunch of oldschool games. That one is also fun, and ridiculously cute.

However, I caught a bad cold on Christmas Day, and it gave a whole lot of tiredness and stuffy nose-ness. Thankfully, I think I'm getting over it now, and it's not leaving me with a horrible cough or anything.

Also, Sophie is all fresh and clean after a bath, and there was a lovely sunset today!

Now, let's go in for my first post on DW with an art and LP dump...

Three new episodes of the KH2 LP!

We've also got a poll up where you can vote or give thoughts on Kia and I's next LP:

The usual Christmas Haul
Whelp, I guess I'll start out a first post here by going into a Christmas haul! XD While I didn't get a lot, I am totally happy with this year since I got most everything I asked for (and it was big stuff too)

- A Nintendo 3DS! AAAAAAAAAAAA YAAAAAAY 8D Now I've got it all ready for KH3D and also the FF rhythm game!
- And in the meanwhile: also got Mario Kart 3D, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time! I am so excited to play both!
- A really super cute shirt; it's got a lovely pattern on it.
- Two pairs of new jeans, which yaaay, I really needed
- A pair of fuzzy Christmas socks with penguins on them; so comfy and cute
- The Art of Toy Story 3 yaaaay!
- Movie ticket monies
- New pens
- Pretty much all my favorite candies

Also from friends I got:
- The Lion King on Blu Ray (yaaay!)
- A Pinkie Pie shirt (so cute!)
- Bolt plushie, a Kingdom Hearts pin, and sea salt ice cream!

And then from grandma, I got some nice-smelling lotion, and some cash. Although...grandma has pretty much gotten it into her head that she is going to troll all of her kids and grandkids every Christmas. Last year, she made us hum Christmas carols through kazoos in order to get our presents. This year, we all had to wear Billy Bob fake teeth and sing with them to get gifts. And then the cash we got was inside a glass ball ornament...and we had to figure out on our own how to remove the cash without breaking the ornament. My family can be so weird sometimes.

I hope that everyone celebrating it had an awesome holiday, and I also wish much happiness in the new year! I'm probably gonna go to bed early and get a lot of sleeps since I'm worried that I'm getting sick. XP Woke up with a stuffy nose and it's been dragging me down most of the day, despite fun things.

Also, I should probably figure out how to do a cut here on DW...

In all the lighthouses in all the world, she had to fall off of mine
Got back from seeing grandma yesterday; we had a pretty decent time! Good dinner, got even more candies and stuff for Christmas, and grandma made us go through this kind of elaborate scheme to get each present. |D I also got to see my cousin's place for the first time, and that was an...interesting experience.

And uuuugh, last night was miserable. Went to bed at 11 since I knew I had to get up at 6:30 today, only I woke up at 2 and then couldn't go back to sleep because of that STUPID WIND. Have I mentioned that I hate wind recently? No? In case you've forgotten: I hate hate hate HATE the sound of wind at night. It keeps me awake and fills me with persistent dread. So I was kept up all night; went to sleep right before I was supposed to wake up and had a nightmare right up until my alarm went off, then when I woke up, I went downstairs and discovered it was so hot in the house because the wind blew the front door open and our heater was trying to heat the whole outside. By the way, I hate wind.

In better things, I started playing Epic Mickey last night! I can't give quite the same blow-by-blow commentary that I usually do with KH games since Epic Mickey requires a lot more concentration, but I'll still do thoughts as I go through:

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Just wanted to wish a huge ~*~ MERRY CHRISTMAS ~*~ to all who celebrate it! And if you don't, amazing-happy holidays to you as well! I hope everyone has a wonderful day and rest of the year...I really wish all of you the absolute best. Stay warm and safe, and have fun!

I wish I had a Christmas drawing to share, but I was awful lazy this year and didn't do one. ><; HOWEVER, REINDEER STORY WILL PROBABLY CONTINUE AFTER THE HOLIDAYS, SO I DUNNO IF THAT COUNTS?!

Umm, I have a specific giftart instead...already posted this to dA, but I may as well post it here, too. Christmas giftart to [livejournal.com profile] rebmakash:

Riku's Light )

I'm going to be heading off with my bro and the dog to visit our grandma today and tomorrow, so I won't be back until tomorrow night or so. Take care 'til then!

I squandered my indestructibility
Last night we ended up having our "Christmas Day," since we had to have it early. Parents had to leave for Italy to see my other little brother today, and they won't be back until after New Years. But it was still nice...we did popcorn and cokes and had on 'It's A Wonderful Life' (the colorized version, meh) and I got many great things for early!Christmas! :D

Stuffes what I got:

List of cool things! )

And now it's back to being a (mostly) lazy bum this break and playing many vidya games. On actual Christmas Day me and little bro will head up to see grandma and other family for a day or two.

The happier post
The Christmas party yesterday was lotsa fun, and I got to see dudes that I haven't seen in a long while! We had a delicious full Christmas dinner, did some gift exchanges (got a lot of great stuff, including How To Train Your Dragon on DVD!), watched Rankin/Bass Christmas cartoons, and played IC Apples To Apples and drinking games. It was thoroughly enjoyable all around.

Also, this evening I went out to the Christmas play that I painted the set for the other day. It was all the adorable bitties dressed up in adorable bitty angel costumes, looking increasingly uncomfortable because it's hot up there and those big tinsel-ringed collars itch. But they sang all the songs so well and it was super cute. I didn't remember the lyrics, but I recognized them all when they started singing. XD (Oh man listening to those songs over and over for WEEKS on end aaaah) I was amused since I played the part of Gabriel when I was in that play, and now Gabriel was played by the girl I gave art lessons to for awhile.

And hmmm, now have to figure out what to work on...I'm thinking reindeer story...

There is something both hilarious and surreal about reading the phrase "chargin mah laser" in the LA Times this morning.

Still feeling a little weird about...things, IDK. Maybe I'll talk about it later.

In the meanwhile, gonna wrap all the gifts I can and later head down to a Christmas party with friends, which I'm way looking forward to. I'll likely be gone most of the day for that!

I also have a completed commission to share! This is for super cool dude [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada, who asked for a scene of Sora and Riku taking their Mark of Mastery exam. XD Obviously this will likely get jossed by the 3D game, but for now, I hope this is an okay depiction!

So for Christmas, Kia got me a KH Snuggie. It is now officially the dorkiest thing that I own. XD

I've now beaten the Vanitas Sentiment with Aqua, and at best have gotten his health down about halfway with Terra. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF. 8(((((

I promised dudes at church that I would paint part of the set for the church Christmas play, so I'll be off doing that for most of the day today. It's the same play that I was in when I was a wee bitty (not a Nativity play!), so awwww, nostalgia factor.

Another crazy list
Aaaand I hope everyone had a great Christmas! :D It sounds like it for the most part, which is in turn goodness! I had a bunch of big breakfasts and dinners (holy crap like two big breakfasts in a row) and Christmas Eve we actually went to the church service down in the chapel. The service itself was nice (except they only had a soloist sing O Holy Night, and it's one of my favorite carols, sob) although the message part of it was WAAAAAAAY long. Nice guy, but I'm not entirely sure he had a focus for what he was talking about.

I got some sweet stuff this year, including
- Bunches of clothes (including pants, which I desperately needed)
- Snow White and Hunchback of Notre Dame on DVD (my Disney collection groooows!)
- Some sketchbooks
- A new blue and green comforter (ALSO desperately needed, as my old comforter was literally torn to shreds)
- Very comfy socks
- Some cash and candies (CHOCOLATE ORANGE, WOOOO)
- Scribblenauts for the DS! I tried it out, and while the game is fun and incredibly cute, it is also FRIGGIN' HARD. It makes me feel like a total uncreative idiot. D: I seriously can't even complete the first world, WTF. Is it supposed to be this difficult?!

And since I got the cash, I'm thinking of going out and buying one other game I wanted and then saving the rest for other things. I'm debating between FFIV and Dissidia, and leaning mostly towards Dissidia. I also want something that I can hopefully finish before the end of the break. What do you think, flist?

Went out to my grandparents' place after Christmas morning, we were just chilled around the house. I saw my uncle for the first time in awhile, and while he's looking...eh, at least he's there and getting along with everyone. Hopefully this means betterness down the road, too. We got another puzzle this year, and ended up finishing the entire 1000-piece puzzle in ONE DAY since nearly everyone worked on it. XD It's funny how doing a puzzle over Christmas is starting to become a tradition for me, but I like it. Jigsaw puzzles force me to turn off my entire brain and just relax.

Played a whole bunch of Settlers of Catan, but only won one round 'cause I suck at that game. OH, and I also dragged my family out to Princess and the Frog tonight! And they all liked it! XD (I still would not be adverse to seeing it again!) I suppose I also need to go see Avatar since my brothers saw it and liked it, but I'm not sure how to feel about it yet. If I go see it, I want to go in 3D, since I think the point of it is to get the full 3D experience.

I would break open the chocolate orange now, but I'm already kinda full on cookies (We had a friggin' ton this year). And speaking of, I also made an Okami Christmas cookie, but I need to take a photo of it before I eat it.

OMG 2009 is almost OVERRRRRRRRRRR thank goodness~

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Monday I put money in [livejournal.com profile] hammster's expired parking meter (14 points). Last Saturday I gave [livejournal.com profile] tacto a Dutch Oven (-10 points). In February I gave [livejournal.com profile] ligtness a kidney (1000 points). In August I caught a purse-snatcher who stole [livejournal.com profile] purapea's purse (30 points). In April I bought porn for [livejournal.com profile] beanclam (10 points).

Overall, I've been nice (1044 points). For Christmas I deserve a new dolly!

It's so bizarre, I really can't believe that Christmas is this week. It doesn't feel like Christmas at all. o_o Maybe because it's not cold enough again, or I haven't been listening to enough Christmas music, or...something, I dunno. I hope it's not because I'm getting too old and cynical, 'cause it's way too early for me to be there yet. D: It'll probably be better once I'm not at work and can relax some. Of course, I'm working all the way up through Christmas Eve, sooo... @_@

Another True Lynx Story
Because if there's one thing I won't stand for, it's having people pass up an opportunity to laugh at my misfortune!

Bugs )

I can't stop compulsively checking behind me. 8(

IN MUCH BETTER NEWS, I just got back from Rifftrax Live with [livejournal.com profile] yamikonumber7 and [livejournal.com profile] ghettopeach, and we laughed our faces off! Lots of shorts about Santa's toys coming to life and wreaking havoc, or Santa kidnapping children, or Santa invading the dreams of young children and making their toys come to life. There was a theme of evil toys. OH THE FIFTIES, WHAT WAS WRONG WITH YOU. There was also a short about THE LITTLEST CHRISTMAS TREE, and somehow a barbershop trio singing about pork. At the end, there was an animated Rudolph short:

*Santa enters Rudolph's bedroom in the middle of the night and gently prods him awake*
Santa: Rudolph, I need you tonight.
Riffers and entire audience: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

SMALL AND OF NO ACCOUNT

Also, Kel, thank you SO MUCH for the art book! ♥ ♥ More stuff to talk about actually, but for now, I gotta get to bed and pray the bugs never ever return.

200 Wolfies
There's a new Lunargyros page up today!

Speaking of, I've just recently finished drawing the 200th page of the comic, which is for next week. It's kind of hard to believe that I've actually completed 200 friggin' pages of this thing. I feel like I should do something special for this milestone, but I dunno what. I've been doing this story for so long...over three years, and it was rattling around in my brain for almost three years prior to that, and it's just become such a routine part of my life that I barely even notice myself working on it anymore. What I should really do is work more on the script...I have it written up to some point in the next chapter, and the story's thought out to the end, although the final scenes and some other wrap-up points I'm still fuzzy on. I kinda feel like I should do more spoilery sketches or something, too, just to get myself into a good groove, and draw the characters for something other than just the pages.

It also feels hard to tell if I've really improved or not. I think I've improved on art overall, but I've been doing a lot more style experimenting outside of Lunargyros itself, where the characters have mostly stayed the same.

Man, I have no clue what I'm going to do with myself when I actually finish Lunargyros...

I have a Christmas wish list, but I've been hesitant to post it because I know lots of people have much bigger things to deal with this year and I don't like putting pressure on dudes. But I've seen other lists up, sooo...does anyone want me to post my list? o_oa

Very late Christmas post
I hope that everyone had a fantastically fun Christmas on Thursday! :D Was gone through most all of yesterday and Christmas Day, so I couldn't internets. But I still offer HUGS TO YOU AAAALL! I've gotten so many nice cards and other awesome gifts from you guys...you're the absolute best! And I apologize for my fail on the gifts front this year, I'll try hard to make it up with art! ><;

My list of Very Fine Things Acquired this year: under the cut )

For the monies, I acquired $50 in Best Buy dollars, and $50 in normal dollars. However, I am not quite certain what to do with them! I at least need to spend the Best Buy dollars as those will be useless any place except Best Buy. :| So please help me out, kind flist! What should this combination of Best Buy dollars and normal dollars be spent on? Apparently basic accounts cannot do actual polls so just PRETEND IT'S A REAL POLL and answer in comments or...something. >>

Fake Poll )

After presents we had delicious breakfast (pancakes with holiday shapes, fruit, bacon and eggs!) then packed up and headed to grandparents' place. We brought a 1000-piece puzzle, which I spent most of my time working on, though everyone else pitched in to help at some points. Doing that puzzle's made me wonder just how my brain works...because if someone hands me a puzzle, I get intensely obsessive over it, working on it for hours at a time. I did the same thing when I was really little, too: I would have a small ten-piece puzzle for toddlers and I would put it together and take it apart and put it together again, over and over for hours without stopping. The only reason I don't do so now as often is because I have less time and puzzles are expensive/space-consuming. Is it some kind of relaxant for an artist brain to do a very left-brained activity? Is it just a sign of an obsessive nature? o_o I wish I could figure it out.

After said puzzle was completed, the 'rents wanted to go see Marley and Me, but the very LAST thing I wanted to do the day after Christmas was see a movie about a lovable yellow lab that dies at the end. 8| (Turns out the movie was sold out anyway.) So my brother and I went to see 'The Tale of Despereaux' instead.

Thoughts on the movie )

And nooow, I'm back home, with the new year coming up fast! 'Twas a very good holiday with family, all things considered. Now it's time to go catch up on DC. @_@

Once again: I love you all, and I hope you had a terrific holiday! ♥

Blub blub blub
There's not one, but two new Lunargyros pages that went up on Tuesday.

On Monday I went on many fine adventures! My parents wanted us to do some stuff together, so we drove on down to Long Beach, where we visited the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Queen Mary, both of which are things I've never done. Despite the fact that I was sick (still sort of am) and it was rainy and cold, it was a lot of fun! Call me boring or nerdy, but I love going to zoos and aquariums. Just seeing the amazing variety of life there is on earth and learning about all the cool things animals can do gets me so excited and inspirational.

We saw most of the aquarium, and I got to pet the sharks and rays! They had some black-tip reef sharks, a little hammerhead, a sawtooth shark, and this MASSIVE ray, holy cow it was huge.

I did some sketches when I had the time, and I also stole some photos off my mom's camera.

Swim this way )

After the aquarium, we went across the street to eat at Bubba Gump shrimp, which I've never eaten at before. I got coconut shrimp, mmmmm. The shrimp was really good, but I don't think we got enough food for the amount it cost. (And this is coming from a person/family that generally eats small portions). Still, we got to pwn the waitress at Forrest Gump trivia rounds. Movie buff family members FTW!

Then it was a quick bus ride over to the Queen Mary! I'm not as much of a nautical buff as some of my friends, but it was fun regardless! We went on the ghosts and legends tour, which was pretty campy and Disneyland-esque in the special effects they used to simulate the "ghosts," so the family and I were LOLing through lots of it. (Then again, I'm probably spoiled by the Edinburgh ghost tours. :|) I missed seeing the ghost in the swimming pool, curses! It was fun seeing the rest of the ship too, and learning some of the historical stuff. I never knew that the Queen Mary had an alternate alias during WWII, and that she held the record of most people ever carried across the Atlantic in one trip! (16,000+, more than double the amount there were enough lifeboats for. Lucky the QM didn't pull a Titanic. :P) So yeah, it was fun!

And finally, I helped decorate a few Christmas cookies last night, as is tradition. I made a Sora cookie:

Photobucket

I would've made matching Riku and Kairi cookies, except there weren't any more person-shaped cookies left. And we ran out of black sprinkles, so I had to improvise on the clothes.

Usually we give these cookies away as gifts. DOES ANYONE WHO LIVES DECENTLY CLOSE TO ME WANT A DELICIOUS SORA COOKIE? o_o

Welp, it's Christmas Eve today, which means today and tonight I'll be doing stuff with the family, and then tomorrow through Friday I'll be gone for more Christmas stuff. I hope that everyone has a very happy Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Love to you all! ♥

O Tannenbaum
Decorated the Christmas tree yesterday evening and did the whole living room Christmas setup! Except my brothers did not help nearly enough because one was off doing work, and the other was being lazy. :/ Come onnnn, guys.

Also, while we had on The Muppet Christmas Carol for part of house-decorating, part of the other time we had on The Amazing Race because my parents wanted to watch the finale of that. :| And mom keeps saying that she and dad should go on that show. I dunno how competitive they could be, but they do have a lot of experience doing international travel under stress. Then we started talking about what the show would try and stereotype them as and make them wear if they got accepted into the race. They're both teachers, so we were thinking t-shirts with apples on them or they'd put dad in a tie, but I'm still convinced that they'd play up on the fact that my dad teaches religion and stereotype them as stiff, closed-minded religious uberconservatives and make them go around rural Africa in nice church clothes, lawl. Oh reality television, it's kind of obvious just how scripted you are.

But yeah, Christmas stuff is up. And cards were mailed out today, so dudes should be getting them soon! \o/

Merry Christmas!
A very Merry Christmas to everyone! :D Love and miss all of you that I haven't seen/talked with in awhile, and I hope your holidays are going great! Even though I woke up early today because of howling winds in the canyon this morning (blehh) today was still a good day.

While I'm thinking of it: just want to give lots of love and thanks to everyone who sent me Christmas cards! ♥♥ I loved getting those in the mail! And [livejournal.com profile] ayn504: thank you for that lovely drabble! ♥ I think I'll definitely try and do cards again next year, and they were lots of fun to do.

Got back from grandparents' place yesterday early afternoon! It was a good weekend there, and it consisted mostly of eating, attending church and me working on Lunargyros. XD; It's getting harder for even my parents to stay there since my grandpa has such strange sleeping hours. But all in all, it was quite relaxing. Heh, on the drive up there, I actually went and wrote up a long theorizing blurb on Birth by Sleep. XD I'll post it later, though.

For now, my Christmas haul! )

All in all, I was extremely surprised and happy with how much great stuff I got this year. And what's more, it was great just spending time with the family! We ate a huge breakfast of biscuits and bacon and eggs and fruit, and watched some of my brothers' DVD gifts, which included the first season of "Arrested Development" and the "Planet Earth" documentary DVD set. (I love nature documentaries, so my brother and I geeked out over his gift together.) I think everyone was happy with what I got them, or at least, I hope they were!

*hugs to all once again!* And if you don't see me too often the next day or two, it's because I'm engrossed in lawyering. XD

Generic "Will Be Away" post, go!
Leaving tomorrow in the morning to spend a few Christmas days with mom's side of the family in Bakersfield. Since I don't even know if their computer is hooked up, and since when we come back it'll be Christmas Eve, you won't be seeing me on the internets until Tuesday or so. So I hope everyone has a good time until then! \o/

Finished off Christmas shopping today and some of my brother's shopping, too. Except the mall that I went to, which I've been going to since I've lived in SoCal, is going through some refurbishing and big changes. And I looked everywhere, and there's not one single store that sells DVDs there anymore! It's a mall, and there's nowhere to buy DVDs in it! Apparently it's becoming all "upscale" now and places like Suncoast or such can't afford to sell there. I have a frickin' Nordstroms and Abercrombie and Fitch, but no Suncoast? Man, screw that. :P

For Lunargyros-related stuff, a brand-new Wirepop calendar will soon start going on sale, and it'll include a 'Lunargyros' month...along with tons of artwork from other awesome artists! :D I'm excited about it! However, I'll probably do a separate post about it after Christmas and once I know it's ready to go to print and stuff. It's even gonna be a 15-month calender for longer-than-a-year badass!

I've been so art lazy lately, and I don't know if that trend's going to continue or not. And I was going to use the break to do portfolio stuff...blargh.

OMG NEW SCANS FROM BBS, YAAAAY! And dammit, I just realized that being away, I'm going to miss all the info that'll come out from Jump Festa this weekend! Flist, you must needs give me the scoop when I get back. And screw the AkuRoku nuttiness and fandom crap that I know will result; I'm still gonna get 358/2 Days and enjoy playing it, if for no other reason that Roxas getting to meet all of Sora's Disney-character friends. XD It's something I was actually expecting to happen in KH2, and damned if it's not gonna be fun for this game. I'll even put up with Mysterious Fourteenth Member for that.
But the more stuff I see about BBS, the more excited I am for it. *_* It makes me wanna write up my theories on what's gonna happen for that prequel! I don't know if anyone wants to read it or not, though... Regardless, theorizing is one of my absolute favorite fandom-related things to do. ♥

Ouchies, my wrist...
Barely finished on time since last week's finals ate me, but there is still a new Lunargyros page up, yes. :o

Okay, something a little happier...I finally bought and finished Dramacon #3 yesterday! :DDD

Dramacon 3 spoilers in the review )

So, while I had my issues with it, overall it is still one of my favorite manga, with great characters and very relateable dialogue! XD So, if you have not had the fortune of reading Dramacon yet, Axel reminds you all:

(And now I just need to catch up on my other OEL...)

OMG, and I went to the Christmas party and gift exchange at the Ranch on Sunday! Had an absolutely fabulous time with all my friends! There was delicious food, and Em, Ali, Care and Beth created a pseudo-string quartet with their violin, viola, cello and piano and played Christmas songs for us! It was very pretty. ♥ We did our gift exchange, and I got a 'Bone' art book and a Fone Bone plushie from Rei! I didn't even know they made plushies of Fone Bone! XD Then we all settled around and watched the live-action Peter Pan. It was very fun and relaxing, so my friends, ILU! ♥♥

My room is clean and my action figures are back up now; makes me happy. ♥ BTW, cards should be sent out now. \o/

Merry Christmas!
It's Christmas morning! Mwahaa I got Christmas befoooore you all...

Hooray, last night and this morning were much fun! For Christmas I gooot...lots of Italian leather! XD A leather jacket, a leather journal, a leather wallet, and a leather bag! I also got a cute Vespa shirt, an Italian cereal bowl, some posters, some monies, and my brother got me a Jack Skellington figure with changeable heads. XD And then we had a big breakfast of pancakes (with the Bisquick I brought from home...) and now we're watching the Christmas movies passed around.

We would've had Christmas presents under the tree, but it's waaay too cold downstairs and if we turn on the lights on that tree downstairs it will probably burst into flames and kill us all. So we had presents under the poinsettas instead. (Is...that how you spell poinsetta?)

My brother and I have also been sharing MST3K shorts and other YouTube videos with my dad.

Could say more, but I think I'm going to go shower/draw/hang with my family. I hope everyone has/had a wonderful Christmas! ^^
