Things on a screen
There's a new Lunargyros page up, you can read it here.

I was gonna talk about the Oscars, wasn't I? Well, long and short of it, went "okay cool" at some of it and was disappointed at a bunch of it. Tron, Tangled and HTTYD all got shafted. :| Tron should've gotten a score nomination anyway, or a VFX award. HTTYD definitely deserved score, and I wished it'd gotten Best Animated (with TS3 taking Best Picture, ahahaa like that'd ever happen.) Tangled definitely deserved best original song. I wasn't surprised that The King's Speech took Best Picture and a bunch of the other awards, 'cause it was really good. But let's be honest...10 years from now, people will remember Toy Story 3, not The King's Speech.

Also, not that impressed with the hosts. That kids' chorus at the end was way more impressive. Bring back Hugh Jackman, he was entertaining!

Yesterday was all day at the Gnomon preview day, which went pretty well! Finally got to talk in person with the recruiter from Nickelodeon, since I've just been emailing her previously. Also said hi to the people from Thinkwell, they totally remembered the silly movie I'd worked on there. XD The cool people from Wet Design were there, as was that slightly unsettling guy. We'll see if I get any actual bites from yesterday. Speaking of, I should write Alison again...

So I gave in and watched the first few episodes of the new My Little Pony. And...yeah, I can see why people won't stop gushing about that show now. It's somehow both teeth-rotting cute and REALLY ADDICTING. HELP I CAN'T STOP. Expect ponies art from me later...

I also may need to watch (or at the very least do some studies) for a more action-oriented show...I hear Young Justice has been quite good? Anyone know if that's an action series worth seeing?

Drawing: Sooo much LG, but also fanarts...

A random assortment of thoughts
Once again, thanks for all the kind wishes and thoughts on the last entry, dudes. <3 Been hanging in there, mostly by hanging out with super cool friends and watching MST3K and POTC. You guys are seriously the bestest ever.

I guess this is just going to take some time to get used to. I keep going downstairs or finishing a meal or just walking in the house and my first instinct being to go and pet Sunshine, and then I remember she's not there. :( I hate that feeling, because it keeps coming up all the time. We've been saving a bunch of pictures and videos of her, too. (At least, my little bro was smart and took video of her.)

- I kinda want to see 'Gnomeo and Juliet.' It doesn't look amazing or anything, but it looks cute enough.

- I've been debating getting a Plurk. Y/N?

- I really need to draw something for myself soon.

- I keep getting the sense that I need to watch the new My Little Pony, at least an ep or two, because people keep raving about it. But I didn't play with MLPs growing up and I didn't watch the show...

- A small part of me is curious to read Homestuck just so I know what the heck everyone keeps going on about, and then I remember just how long all that is and I get scared off. 8|

- There's a new Lunargyros page up from Friday.

Now, gonna go home and watch the Oscars. Thoughts will likely come later.

Tron at El Capitan?
HEY DUDES. I figured I should post this sooner rather than later...

It's been awhile since I've done a midnight showing at the El Capitan, and I'd like to go to it for Tron: Legacy! So what I want to know is WHO ELSE WOULD LIKE TO GO.

- The first showing's on the 17th at midnight (Thursday night)
- It's $28 per person for the better seats (of course including the free popcorn/drink/laser show beforehand)
- Nearby parking's about $10 per car, so it'd be a good idea to carpool.

The center VIP Orchestra and Balcony are already taken, so if we want to get good seats together then we should buy them ASAP!

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO COME AND CAN COME. We'll work out payment and transit stuff, too!

And I guess I should get back to work in the meanwhile...

Start working, LJ!
HEY DUDES, I'M BACK AROUND THE INTERNETS NOW. It's been a pretty busy week since Thanksgiving, but also lots of fun.

First off: hello to any new dudes from the KH friending meme! I don't usually do those sorts of things, but hey, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time. Expect mostly art dumps and chatting on about nothing in particular from me.

Thanksgiving itself went better than I expected, just because it was with people I don't see hardly at all. Friday in the afternoon I went and saw Harry Potter with my parents, and it was pretty dang epic. I enjoyed the movie...I dunno if I did as much as HBP, but quite a lot. I kind of loved how they did the tale of the three brothers, with that stylistic animation. That was probably my favorite part of the whole movie. Now just need part two to get here...

Then on Friday, [livejournal.com profile] teg_plays_games came over for a week-long visit, and we did many geeky and California things! I finally saw all of the first season of Avatar...so of course sometime I have to sit down and watch the other two seasons, too. 8D I did enjoy the show a bunch; I was impressed by so much in it. We also did a bunch of gameage, mostly Okami, BBS and Dissidia. It's really nice to be able to use the multiplayer options in both of those, and mirage arena-ing and Dissidia battles were both much fun, even if I frequently lost the latter. Ah well, I got to level some villains, since I haven't picked up that game in ages. And Teg got to laugh at the fact that sometimes rumble racing with Terra is REALLY REALLY FRUSTRATING.

On Monday we headed with [livejournal.com profile] yamikonumber7 out to D-Land! It ended up being a pretty good day to go, since it was the Monday after the break and a pretty cold day. (More of that cold was felt at night, though.) So there was practically nobody there...plenty of space to run around and the lines were all very short. We got to do pretty much everything we wanted, including a bunch of the darkrides and the teacups, which I haven't done in ages. We finished it off with the Christmas fireworks show + Disneyland "snow." The park closed early (probably because of weekday and winter times), but we got dinner at House of Blues and it was quite good.

Tuesday we did a few more geeky things and then headed to Hollywood for a showing of 'Tangled' at the El Capitan! Of course there was a little walking around the walk of the stars area before hand, too. We had totally awesome seats for the movie, and they did a stage show beforehand that I actually hadn't seen before. (Best part of that was obviously the 'I'll Make A Man Out Of You' segment.) Tangled was just as good the second time; the songs actually felt a little better to me the second time around. I do love El Capitan, and I'm debating shelling out for a ticket there for the premiere of Tron: Legacy... After the movie we got delicious ice cream at the Disney Soda Fountain, and I also gave Teg a superquick tour of Gnomon.

Aaaand today was even more geekery, Malibu Seafood and showing Teg some studios in Burbank before finally having to take her back to the train station. But it was indeed a fun week!

Oof...except now I should really get back to work, and I've been hit with the tired stick, too. @_@ I'm going to try and be as productive as I can in the next two weeks on the stuff I have to get done, partially to match what friends (and particularly my mom) are having to do right now, and partially because I want to get some of the freelance stuff out of the way so that I can focus on stuff like that Okami board or getting down more of that reindeer story...kinda fell behind on that. >>

Finally, there's a new Lunargyros page from yesterday.

IT IS NOW MY INTENTION TO DO...SOMETHING. *just sort of falls over*

It's Halloween in February or something
So yesterday I watched Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho all the way through for the purposes of shot analysis. I've never seen the whole thing before. And you know how they always show the shower scene on TV and you're thinking "Oh, this isn't THAT scary just by itself"? The scene's actually a lot better when you see the whole movie and get all the buildup that goes with it. Norman Bates really is creepy as a character 'cause he's practically the nicest guy in the whole film. Fffff Hitchcock, how did he think up some of these shots.

Need to decide what Hitchcock movie I wanna look at next...maybe North by Northwest?

Okay so somebody linked this in chat yesterday and I SERIOUSLY JUMPED OUT OF MY SEAT OMG

And finally, I drawed a thing:

DRR DRR DRR )

Why no, I didn't sleep well last night, why do you ask? 8D

Drawing: Got a whole buncha stuff to work on, actually...redoing Calnavory, redoing boards, some stuff for Lunargyros, and I feel like fanarting still.

Oscar Thoughts!
- Hugh Jackman totally stole the show. Forget getting the comedians who just talk through the whole show...I want someone who can sing and dance! I can totally get behind Hugh Jackman as host for every Oscar year.
- I'M WOLVERIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!
- Wall-E got away with Best Animated! :D WOOT!
- ...I'm annoyed that it didn't get any other awards, though. It really deserved to win Best Sound Editing or Mixing.
- I kinda wish Oktapodi had won Animated Short. I'll have to see this French film and see how it goes.
- Eddie Murphy, what was the last movie you did that didn't suck?
- Wow okay, the guy that they got to sing "Down To Earth" totally didn't do the song justice. :/
- OH SOB OLLIE JOHNSOOOOOON ;~;
- Okay so, Slumdog Millionaire made out like a...millionaire? I guess I gotta go see that. The 'rents said it was pretty good, if not violent. Oh well, can't be any worse than TDK.
- So yeah, fairly entertaining all in all. MOAR HUGH JACKMAN.

In which I talk about moving pictures
There was a new Lunargyros page put up on Tuesday. Getting to a fun part!

Ahhh, so they finally announced Oscar nominations for this year! I've found myself caring less and less about the Oscars than I used to (ironically) but I'm still interested in the animated films because I'm a geek like that. Wall-E, Bolt and Kung Fu Panda are all up for Best Animated, which makes it a really tough choice because I think all three films were excellent. Buuuut I think Wall-E's gonna walk away with the prize, and rightfully so.

However, Wall-E didn't get nominated for Best Picture! I'm so very disappointed. :(

And ffffff, I have no idea what to root for in Best Animated Short. Presto made me nearly cry I was laughing so hard, but Oktapodi was absolutely bloody brilliant and it'd be nice for a non-Pixar-short to win for once. I need to see the other shorts still.

Today I'm heading back to school for another one of those company presentations, and then tomorrow is my graduation! @_@ Holy cooooow, I can't believe it!

Also, for my graduation thingie I've actually got one more ticket left, since neither of my little brothers can come. [livejournal.com profile] ghettopeach already said she'd come. Is there anyone living in the area who'd like to come to my graduation? It's at 5:30 tomorrow, but obviously you need to allow time for traffic and getting there. If so, let me know! You can see my school and a bunch of the artwork stuff I've done in my time there, and there will be food!

Speaking of, I need to go burn a DVD or two of that stuff...

Drawing: Not nearly enough now. Yesterday I kinda hit an art block and was unhappy with everything I was doing. :( Hopefully it'll clear up soon.
