Yeah, I'm in class, but I finished my test early. Mwah! And considering the fact that I've been playing a lot of FFXII lately in order to avoid the impending financial doomsday that is my school loans, I might as well do this meme.

Except I don't know if I'm that well suited for it, considering I don't really consider myself a gamer. I've finished, what...four games total? :x Oh wells.


1. What was the first video game you have ever played?
Video or computer game? If we're talking either/or, then I would say Word Munchers and Number Munchers back in fourth grade. You know, back when floppy discs were actually floppy! You young'ins!

2. What was your first console?
*snort* This PS2 that I have now. My parents never let us have consoles growing up.

3. Have you ever visited a video game arcade?
Yes, there was an arcade called "Tilt" that used to be in the Oaks Mall. It was loud and noisy and frightened me. D:

4. What was your first handheld?
I...don't own a handheld. XD; I've just borrowed my brother's GBA to play CoM.

5. What was the first game you've beaten/cleared completely? (Got to the last level/got 100%/beat high score, etc.)
If you count computer games? I once got to level 260-something on Word Munchers for mac. XD; Otherwise, I'd probably say the first Kingdom Hearts

6. Games based off of real sports: Yay or Nay?
I don't care about sports in real life, so I don't really care about virtual sports, either.

7. Online games: Yay or nay?
Depends. I used to play 'Descent II' with online multiplayer in my typing class in seventh grade. I don't remember if I've played any since? So I guess I don't really care either way.

8. Do you play any Massively Multiplayer Online RPG games? (MMORPGs?)
I hear over and over again how obsessively addicting they are. Which is precisely why I'm staying the hell away from them.

9. Do you play any virtual pet games? (Neopets, Teripets, Aftermathzone, etc.)
Nope.

10. Puzzle games and Strategy games: Yay or Nay?
Don't those often get lumped into the same category?... I mean, I haven't played any in while, but I know I enjoy puzzles.

That's nearly all I play!

Any wha?

13. What was the first game/console/handheld of yours that stopped working?
Nothing, really. Keep on chugging, little PS2!

Characters/Plot

14. Do you actually care if a game has a plot or do you just play games for the gameplay?
Yes. I mean, unless you're sitting me down to play a fighting or racing game, I'm not going to bother sitting through something if the plot is no good.

15. Name a few video game characters that are your favorites.
Gahh! Favorites?! IMPOSSIBLE! I like most of the characters from the series I've played.

Kingdom Hearts (DURRR), Final Fantasy, Super Smash Bros. Melee, DDR

17. Has a video game ever made you cry?
Don't believe so.

18. Has a video game character annoyed you so much that you wanted him removed from the game?
Errr...not that I can recall?

I do, but it mostly seems to be for KH. XD; I haven't formed huge gung-ho ships for any of the FF games I've played.

Oh heck yes, and it's tons of fun. That's half the reason I write fanfic at all.

Boss Battles/Villains

24. Hardest Boss Battle
HOLY CRAP, the first round for Marluxia in CoM. I seriously mashed buttons so furiously for two days straight that I lost all feeling in my left thumb. DDD: I think I danced around the room when I finally beat him the first time.

25. Most Frustrating Boss Battle
(Doesn't this also count as "hardest?")...Most all of the boss battles in CoM were frustrating for me. Captain Hook was pretty dang bad, though.

26. Most Rewarding Boss Battle
I was very happy with the final boss battle in KH2, and how that ended. I felt very rewarded. :D

27. Funnest Boss Battle
The Dark Thorn in KH2. XD That had some of the best reaction commands for boss battles. Attacking the boss with the frickin' chandelier in Beast's ballroom? Kickass.

28. Most Boring Boss Battle
So I get to the final boss in FFX, and as the book suggests, I do this:
Auron: *Casts zombie on boss*
Yuna: *gives Phoenix Down to boss*
Boss: *DED AND ALL DED*
Me: ....What?

29. Boss Battle that dragged out for a long, long time
I can name several FFX battles that took waaaaaay too long. *coughGilgameshcough* But then again, I haven't gotten to Hell Wyrm or Yiazmat yet. D:

In connection with the previous question..."Battle on the Big Bridge" for Gilgamesh was pretty awesome.

I...don't know? It's usually pretty obvious when you're talking to a future boss.

KH1!Ansem is just made of pontificating awesome.

Master Hand from Smash Bros. DX MADE OF CREEPY MOLESTY NO.

34. Do you ever feel sorry for the villains?
Err, nope? I mean, I suppose I should feel sorry for the Organization, but while I think they're awesome, I really don't feel sorry for them.

35. Are there any villains that seem like they should be playing for the good guys, but aren't?
Iiiiiii really can't think of anyone.

36. Most malicious villain?
That's difficult to say. I don't think I've run into any truly malicious villains like I've heard about in some other games. I would probably say Larxene.

...Giga Bowser, maybe?

Favorites

38. What is your all-time favorite 2D Game?
I'm going to go back into computer games, and say Heroes of Might Magic III. (With II coming in a close second). I played that game obsessively when I was younger, and I STILL adore it. I'd play it more often if it wasn't so time-consuming! (It's also the game I bond over with my brother.) XD

39. What's your favorite 3D game? (PS1/N64 generation)
I didn't really play much on the N64, so I'd say Super Smash Bros.

40. What's your favorite arcade game?
...Do pinball games count? I suck at pinball, but I like playing them. If not, probably Cruisin' USA/Cruisin' World. I don't really enjoy playing DDR in the arcade. *flashbacks to disaster at Disneyland*

41. What's your favorite next-gen game? (Gamecube/PS2/X-Box)
Kingdom Hearts 2, natch!

42. Sequels/long series: Yay or nay?
Sequels and series for games tend to be more successful than movies, I've noticed, but there's still the chance of ruining the series because of overmilking the cash cow and/or jumping the shark. I love series and love following them, but everything in moderation, as they say.

43. What's your favorite Online Game?
I don't play online games.

44. What's your favorite console?
I have to choose?! I like the PS2 and the GC equally! Although I think if I ever got a Wii, that would beat out both...

45.What's your favorite handheld?
I've only played a GBA. :x Again, if I ever got a DS, that would probably instantly be my favorite.

46. Have you ever got yourself involved in a "console war"? (arguing that a console is better than another console)
...Nooooo? I never saw the point of console wars. What good is this amazing console with all these neat features if there's no good games to play on it? *points to the Atari 5200 of the 1980's*

47. Have you ever defended a character/game/console you liked in an argument? Which one?
I won't argue with people who are hating on a certain game/console, but then again, I've never really gotten into an argument about it. However, if you claim to be a KH fan and bash particular characters (Sora, Kairi, the Disney characters, etc.) then I will argue you into an early grave.

48. Name a game that you like but everyone else seems to hate.
I don't think I've played enough! ...But in that case, it'd probably be Chain of Memories again. People refuse to play/finish it because of the battle system, but really, it just took some getting used to and then it was cool.

Umm...probably any popular first person shooter. Aside from the Descent series, I've never enjoyed any shooter games. Oh, and while GTA is hilarious to watch, I think I would get bored with playing it pretty quickly.

Characters? Huh. There's popular pairings I hate, yes, but I don't think there's any specific characters that I hate enough for that.

52. Have you ever stopped before you finished a game because it was too frustrating to go on?
Console games? No, not really. There was an old game on our first PC that our German foreign exchange student put on our computer, that was a Kellogg's cereal heroes game in German. I was never able to finish the game because, as far as I could tell, there was no way to save the game. So every time I started, I had to start from the first level. D:

53. Will you stop at NOTHING to get 100% in a video game?
Depends on the game. Right now, I reeeeeally am trying my darndest to get 100% at least in some areas of FFXII, and that's completely eating my life. XD

54. Have you ever injured yourself at a video game?
Only from DDR. One time I had to stop because I was experiencing this searing pain in my shoulder after a series of fast songs (BAD BAD BAD) and the other time was at Disneyland, when I tried 'Captain Jack' on standard without ever warming up, and as a result felt dizzy and nauseated the rest of the evening.

55. Has a horror/survival genre video game scared you to the point that you refused to finish the game? Did you get nightmares from said game?
I've never played any horror games. :x

56. Have you ever thrown a controller/disc/cartridge in a fit of frustration?
I've thrown objects that weren't controllers or cartridges (like...nearby napkins?!) and I've tossed out a lot of cuss words. I curse more when playing games than I do at any other time. D:

57. Do you need to blow/clean certain games to get them to play?
Noes.

58. Have you ever played a game for so long that you missed sleep over it?
Not really. I've gone on 12-hour binges playing games, but I always stop by 2:30 at the very latest and go to bed. I've never pulled an all-nighter for a game.

59. Were you ever involved in the Pokemon craze?
I was so far out of the Pokemon craze I was against it. XD; My generation missed the target audience by about three years or something. The only Pokemon I've ever played was a bit of Yellow for one night while I was sick, and then I played some of Sapphire recently until I got totally stuck and stopped.

60. Last but not least: Do you picture yourself playing video games 10, 20, or 30 years from now?
Sure, why not! Maybe even making some! ;) I think video games will be around for a long time to come; that they'll work their way into the entertainment mainstream the same as movies, TV and music. On the bizarre offchance that I ever had kids, I would like to think that video gaming was something I could do with my kids for fun. :D
