Blar, finally getting around to updating...on Friday I picked up
chobit001 from the school and we drove out to Disneyland an hour earlier than we were anticipating! However, we do hit traffic on the way there. :P And while we were driving there (although I didn't notice this immediately) someone was honking at us and mouthing "FLAT TIRE." Oh craps. Well, the car didn't feel any different than usual, so we drove the rest of the way to the Disneyland Hotel. When we got there, we did discover that indeed, the back left tire was really low. We talked to the nice people at the hotel valet service, and they had a guy put air back in my tire. I might have a slow leak, so I'll have to have that looked at soon. (Darned if I know when that'll be, though... T_T) But the valet guy was really nice about it. That, and the dude at the hotel front desk totally let me have a discount twilight pass to Disneyland even though I wasn't at a convention, just because he was feeling generous. XD Thank you, awesome Disney employees!
After this we wandered around Downtown Disney for a bit and window-shopped, since everything was waaaay too expensive to even think about buying. D: (A really cute Alice in Wonderland shirt was $130! WTF?!) Although I did buy a snack somewhere in there. It kept raining on and off, and we were hoping it'd clear up by that evening, but no such luck. At 4:00 we finally went into Disneyland since that's when my pass began working (I'm really starting to wish I'd gotten an annual pass...) and we went on the new Pirates of the Caribbean, since I hadn't seen it since they added Jack Sparrow. And actually, the Jack Sparrow additions weren't that intrusive on the original ride (atlhough it was weird having Barbossa where the old blackbeard pirate was) so that made me happy. I was worried they were going to have the movie just kinda take over the original ride.
Ali had to go meet and hang with a friend of hers for a bit since they couldn't get tickets in, so I actually wandered around Disneyland a bit by myself, which I've never done before. I did the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the Haunted Mansion, and then the Jungle Cruise. Dude, the guy who did it was totally un-funny, I could've done a better job giving the tour! And then since no one ever wants to go to the Tiki Room with me, I went to that show. XDAnd no, I didn't sing along with the entire show because I have it memorized! Honestly! Then I tromped on over to Tomorrowland to do Star Tours, considered doing DDR in the arcade and decided against it, and by that time I had to meet up with Ali again.
We met up outside California Adventure, which they'd redone entirely in a Halloween style. Ali was in her Ariel costume, and she looked so adorable! XD She kept getting kids coming up to her and loving all over her, which I thought was beyond cute. The supposed-to-be-a-KH gathering kinda went flop as no one actually did KH (three people were Naruto characters; another was Princess Leia, and then there's someone I'm forgetting). However, while we were running around Cali Adventure, we DID spy a Sora and Org!Roxas duo. I think we kinda freaked him out by going OMG SORA YOU'RE AWESOOOOME! from across the ride lines, though. XD Ali got a picture on the second time we ran into them! WE'RE IN UR THEME PARKS, STALKIN UR COSPLAYERS.
We did a crapload of rides, including a lot I've never been on before. I hadn't done Tower of Terror before because I really hate free-fall rides, but I gave in to peer pressure and went anyway, and it was actually quite fun. Even if I did have trouble walking afterwards. (And I almost lost my bag because it was kinda floating around in mid-air during those falls). :P Besides, The Twilight Zone is awesome. We also did pretty much all of the rollercoasters (except for the River Rapid ride, for very obvious reasons) and the Soarin' Over California and Monsters Inc. rides. The animation center was closed, boo. :(
The best part was that everywhere we went, we got CAAANDY. There were craploads of candy stations all over the park, and they just kept handing out candy to anyone that passed by. They also handed out apples and carrots for the health-conscious parents! So by the time we left, I had a bag full of candy and random fun stickers.
The worst part was that it RAINED A LOT. This wasn't so bad for me, as I wasn't cosplaying and had a jacket with a hood on. But for the cosplayers with wigs? Yeeeeah. D: Usually it was just drizzling, but at one point over the pier it started DOWNPOURING like crazy and we had to run for shelter under this one huge overhang...with about 100 other parkgoers looking for shelter. XD And then we had to wait for the downpour to let up before we could venture out, which thankfully didn't take that long. ...And all of that candy got wet. D:
Afterwards, the six of us crashed in the same room at the Disneyland Hotel, and Ali and I shared an airbed. I woke up with some cramps, but it was better than driving all the way home from Anaheim at 11:30 at night. And then we had a really good breakfast in the hotel the next morning! I wish we could've gone to Goofy's Kitchen since they have all the characters there, but it was too expensive, once again. :x But the other hotel place was just as good, and gave huge portions besides.
...And that was my Disneyland (actually California Adventure) weekend! Phew! Ali has pictures, so I'll probably post them and a few other pics here later, because I'm too lazy to go messing with that HTML right now. Also Sunday I had another class, and that went fairly well. We built a boat, oooooooooh. :o I'm shocking myself with not only being able to (mostly) keep up with the teacher, even when he's going awful fast, but also end up helping a few of the other guys in the class! As I'm the only girl in the class besides two older Asian womenmale-dominated industry much? this somehow amuses me.
And uuuugh, I still hate the government. I finally got my passport copy request back...with no actual passport copy. Apparently I'm missing SOMETHING important, although darned if I know what. And somehow this doesn't matter, as part of the letter also said, BY THE WAY, YOU DON'T NEED YOUR OLD PASSPORT NUMBER TO GET A NEW ONE, LOL. Gee, thanks, American bureaucratic system. 'Cause you could've FOOLED ME. So now I need to fill all this stuff out and go apply for my passport ASAP, blarghs...but I need to go meet that cool animator guy for lunch tomorrow and should get my portfolio together, eeek...
Operator status: Weee, mornings. Except not.
Drawing: More LG pages, when I get to it. And again, still that comic cover to finish.
Writing: Stared posting Lost Worlds, weee! Also, one more chapter left to spork!
