At the ol' fishing hole
Random stuff here and theres! First off, the pic I finished last weekend:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Just random characters in a random fantasy setting. I was happy with how it turned out! XD The beagle-dragon just kinda popped out of nowhere, but I liked it, so now I'm drawing more dog and cat-dragons for fun... And the details were a lot sharper under the water, but as soon as I added the extra blue on top it all got blurry. I wasn't expecting that effect, but it looked kinda neat.

I really liked how it came out in real life, although naturally both the scanner and Photobucket killed the colors. ;_; (It especially didn't seem to like the reddish-brown on the beagle-dragon...) Also, I had to scan the pic in two pieces, so it has a blurry edge against a sharper edge that I tried to hard to fix. Did a little bit of touch-up on the white, anyway, since pencil dust got all over the place. I need to learn how to incorporate more white into these pictures, like how I've seen some people able to do with markers...

Weee! On Monday, [livejournal.com profile] corrielle and I went to go see The DaVinci Code! Since I was the only one in the house so far that has read the book, I guess my perspective was a little unique...

For the most part, I really enjoyed seeing the movie, but I *am* easily pleased. X3 I think, all things considered, they did a good job adapting the book as a movie. It would be a very difficult book to adapt since 1) the characters are already rather wooden (I haven't read more of Dan Brown's books, but I think his strength lies more in intricate plot than intricate characters), 2) the fact that the book takes place nearly in real-time, or is paced as such anyway, and 3) the fact that most of the "suspense" is more intellectual than action-oriented. A lot of the excitement comes from the characters just standing around and talking about history.

All that said, I think it was still fun fluff thriller to watch! Silas was awesome, if not insanely creepy, but hey, that's what makes him awesome. And Ian McKellan as Teabing also rocked, but that's just because Ian McKellan rocks everything he does. I thought the actress that played Sofie (forgot her name now...) was quite adorable, although she seemed to be lacking some of the spunk I always imagined her with in the book. I wish they'd spent more time actually talking with Teabing about the legends/"proof" behind the Grail, the Knights Templar, etc., since that was one of the most interesting parts of the book. The ending felt a lot longer in the movie for some reason, although they did pretty much include everything that happened. I think my roomies were confused at some points where I was able to automatically remember stuff from the book and click it into place, but I can't remember what those specifics were, since I read the book so long ago! :P

If nothing else, the movie wins for the SmartCar chase scene. Because SmartCars are awesome. Come on, you try and drive a huge-ass Hummer between two moving trucks five feet apart! XD

Ooooh, a new Manga Online is up! (what, three weeks late?...) Only...my short comic still isn't up there yet! Cry! ;_;

Also, [livejournal.com profile] tentopet did an "inking challenge" where she inked other peoples' sketches. My sketch is the second one down here, and it looks so cute! XD *squeeball*

Operator status: Was busy before, but now it seems to be quiet.

Drawing: Coloring another random quick-for-fun pic, and am now in the middle of editing the werewolf comic pages. Then comes inking! :O I need to finish those ASAP! Also, [livejournal.com profile] sharamordinae actually got me some wallspace at the art show for Gathering of the Gargoyles! :O! So I really need to get kicking and do some good Gargoyles art so that I actually, y'know, have something to PUT there!

Writing: Finished that sporking, yay! A little more on fanfics, too.

Cool drawings!

On an entirely unrelated note (well, I guess not really since the review of the movie is on here *lol*)... any puppet theater version of "Davinci Code" or X-3 when it comes out?

I plan to do X-3, at least! XD Might also do DaVinci Code, if I manage to go see it a second time sometime soon.

I read Angels and Demons, which was pretty good (then again, it's supposed to be a sort-of prequel to Da Vinci Code), and I read Deception Point, but it wasn't as good. Probably because that was more about science-y type stuff and not art, literature and history (maybe I'm just picky about that).

Anywhoo, I love the dragon-beagle creature and the coloring on the fish-creature is really great. Your art is amazing!
