SCREW THIS

Oh boy! I get to join the ranks of artists that are temporarily banned from deviantART!

Why's this, you ask? Yeah, that Sora/Kairi picture from before (what, like, four months ago?) Never mind I had it behind a maturity lock. Never mind I even had a completely kid-safe thumbnail just to be extra-safe. Never mind everything is mostly implied and there's nothing actually showing. Never mind I've seen more pornographic stuff as frickin' DAILY DEVIATIONS.

Nope! Two week's worth of bannination! Why Lynx, HOW DARE you draw two people having sex and then follow the rules when posting it! GO SIT IN THE CORNER AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'VE DONE!

Because naturally, I'm just pumping out the porno art, here. Yup. My gallery's just FULL of stuff that would make Pat Robertson's head explode.

FODDAMMIT, I have a really good picture that I worked *dang hard* on that I wanted to post, too. I was frickin' proud of it. Whatever, at least I'll post it here. If Photobucket doesn't kill it.

Okay...am I just being unnaturally pissy? Is the picture really more "pornographic" than I'm making it out to be? I didn't think it was that horrible. It's probably about my limit on that sort of thing, anyways. (Aside from, say, drawing "parts" as part of doing your typical live model drawing for skill practice...) Am I just flipping crazy 'cause I'm pissed at them for deleting my work? I can't tell.

I'm not going to fight them about it, because it's their site, and they can run it how they want, however STUPIDLY that may be. Just...guh? That picture is worth a two weeks' suspension? What the freck ever.

Operator status: Nice and quiet.

Drawing: As mentioned above, I finished a colored pencil pic that I spent a lot of time on. Will post that later, I guess. Same with the other doodles I did after more inspiration. I need to revise those Lunargyros pages now that I've gotten some good feedback, plus I have a few other just-for-fun comic pages I'd like to draw. Yesterday I was on a great drawing kick; I hope it continues. :3

Writing: A little bit on Lost Worlds! And currently...we're sporking! Weee!

Sorry to hear it: DA's always a bit screwed up in terms of what they allow up, so you're better off finding some other site to post up the R-ish stuff. A bit of a strange double standard with them (some seriously worse/erotic stuff in photos, etc, that usually gets to stay), but, whatever.

Aren't they supposed to warn you before even suspending?

I dunno, are they? I actually wondered about that...I just got a note saying "This picture has been bahleeted, and by the way, you're banned! Just so you know! :D"

I'm not horribly worried about posting future R-ish stuff there, since I draw it practically once in a blue moon anyway. It just seems bizarre that, out of my (almost) entirely clean gallery, they find one picture that isn't even horribly pornographic and base a two-week suspension off of it. :/

(And, while we're at it...there isn't any policy with LJ that's going to screw me over for any similar reasons, is there?)

I'm not so sure on LJ's policy on it.

I don't know: I have had one art pulled for supposedly the same reason (there was no parts showing at all, so wtf?), and I was given a warning. I wasn't banned at all though. :/

Hey, if it helps, I got banned from DA for 2 weeks/2 months (don't remember) because I was apparently "harassing" an art thief who stole something I drew. What kills me is she didn't get banned or anything. >:(

Uggh, that sucks! D: Especially if that was blatant plagiarism...who knows what kinds of weird criteria they use when deciding to ban someone.

a thought

It's probably not what they are doing in the picture but who is doing it. I don't know how old they all are but the KH peoples don't look too far past fourteen XD. I think DA has an issue with images of underage fooling around. The took off some of my stuff but it was kinda blatant raunchiness -^_^-' We still luff you!

I thought about that too, and in the picture they were supposed to look 18+, since I'm not a fan of the underage thing, either. But I may not have portrayed that well enough :/ (Or perhaps should have a put a big note in the description saying THEY'RE NOT UNDERAGE OKAY, OKAY; but who knows...)

Regardless of the fact that the the Sora/Kairi drawing was behind a "kid-safe" preview image, the administrators probably deleted it, because Sora and Kairi were underage characters and in my opinion, sexual imagery involving underage characters don't belong on dA. Pornography was never awarded a Daily Deviation to begin with, only artistic nudity was awared a DD.

People like you can express their anger as much as possible all they want after they got suspended for pornographic/sexually explicit imagery, that is as long as it does not turn into an attack or an insult against anyone.

Well, if you look at some of the other comments above, the picture was supposed to be older, 18+ versions of the characters, since I'm not one for drawing underage characters having sex, either. I could have perhaps put a note in the description saying they're supposed to be older, if it didn't come across in the actual picture, but I have no idea if that would've made a difference or not. Especially since I know an artist who had their work deleted that was of a similar nature: two characters having sex, but with nothing actually showing and behind a maturity cut, but it was very obvious that the characters were both adults.

And I'm not out to attack or insult anyone, I just needed to blow off steam. -_-;

Well, if you look at whole story, Sora and Kairi are only 14, thus making them underage characters unfortunately. Simply making them older, posing them in a sexual or alluring situation is considered a loophole by the dA administration and it would most likely get removed once it comes to the administrators' attention and it's something that no want wants to argue about at all.
