Because I'm too lazy to actually work on anything right now
...And hey, I've been productive most of the week. Lots of getting up early and such. Argh!

So, first week back at school is officially over. It remains to be seen whether or not this semester will be backbreaking or a breeze, but thusfar it seems manageable. Obviously, some classes will be more enjoyable than others. And now, a quick rundown:

Feature Article Writing I dunno what it is, but I've never had any interest in journalism. It's not like the writing process for press and fiction are all *that* far removed, I just really don't like writing for a paper or magazine. Maybe I just don't like writing to inform? Who knows. But at least this class looks to be easier (ironically) than the Intro to Journalism class, mostly because I think Dr. Jordan is psycho. And I don't think there'll be as much pressure as in the previous class for OMGPERFECTION. Now I just need ideas...anyone know of a good idea for a slice-of-life article due next week? -_-;

Multimedia Production and Authoring This should be interesting. We should eventually be learning a bit of PHP language and basic programming, which would be *really* helpful to learn. That is, assuming that I don't completely rip my hair out trying to learn it, considering even scathingly basic Flash scripting language drove me into near insanity. I know that the more computer programming I learn the better off I'll be; it just takes so much time and effort for me to get it down, and I'm easily frustrated by it. That, and the professor is a family friend I've known since I was, like, seven years old. Okay!

Intro to Pyschology Buh, my last GE class, and it's a lecture hall class full of freshmen. Hopefully half of them will stop showing up as the semester goes on, although I wish my brother was taking that class so I could hang out with him and laugh at weird stuff on his laptop. The class should be at least slightly interesting, though, and it certainly won't be difficult. I just wish it was scheduled at a different time. :P

Seminar in Writing the Novel This class is probably gonna be the most fun. Practically all the other cool people from my other writing classes (Screenwriting, Playwriting, etc.) are in it, and the prof. seems enthusiastic. I've got about three ideas that I could run with for our main project (all of which, ironically, sprang from comic book ideas...) Actually, I think it'd be good to develop one of the comic ideas as a novel, just because it would give me the chance to develop and flesh out the story without having to spend the extra time on the drawings. Although admittedly, some of those ideas would work better *with* pictures than without.

And sprinkled throughout class is work, which goes on as always, although now I'll have to get used to people actually *calling* me again. Tuesdays are gonna completely suck, as I have a standard 9-5 work day, a brief break for dinner, and THEN the Psychology class, which goes from 6-9. Just doing it once this last week I was completely exhausted by the time I got home. XP However, on the flipside, I have Fridays completely off! Yaaay! (Although every other Saturday night will be a midnight shift, boo.)

And woah, just realized that RSOM 6 ends tomorrow. Craziness! Now I want to see the top 20 entries on the internets already... *impatient*

Okay, this is my entry for the club ID contest over at this place. (I am #6, so I am Zexion! MWAHA! XD) The idea's to try and design an ID for the club (err, obviously) hence the small file size.

Wanted to try something a little different here. Drawn completely with mechanical pencil, then I went and messed with brightness and contrast in Photoshop. Except all that heavy lead on the corners totally crinkled the paper and screwed up the scanning. Argh!

Narnia puppet show completion status: 1% Basically, there is currently MORE THAN NOTHING. Yay!

Drawing: Lots! I finished toning all of the pages for the short comic, and sent them away for approval today! *hopes that there are not too many things that require edit-age* Also, I'm drawing lots of little sketchy pictures of a wolf that has a guard rabbit for a class assignment. Hee. And also also, I need to start coloring that countdown picture and then start that art trade picture.

Writing: I *started* work on the Narnia script, but didn't get very far. Will hopefully do more later. Also, I need to write that dang article for Feature Article Writing, except I have no solid ideas. Guhhhh.

Ugh -- I took Intro to Journalism "just for fun". Famous last words, before a semester of AP Stylebook memorizations. The reason I hate journalism is because I hate talking to strangers, but then, maybe I'm just antisocial. I always wanted to take that novel class, but there were too many prerequisites for a non-CW major. Tragic.

I have a topic for you!!
*waves hand and jumps up and down* For real-life topics, here's a few good ones:

If it's gotta be about political stuff: Anything about Iraq. You can pull up oodles of information about how the war is affecting the lives of the soldier's families. Just interview anyone you might know that has a relative/friend in Iraq.

For anything else: How to find talent in yourself. How to survive college life. Just the normal everyday things! I personally think it's best to write about stuff that you're most familiar with. And I'm sure everyone can pitch in ideas for how to survive college life. Whether it's from buying books early to avoid the rush, or advice on cramming for tests...

Hope this helps! :D

Journalism just sucks, there's no two ways about it. I tried the school paper last year and... it wasn't pretty. Much luck to you. The novel writing seminar sounds cool. I wish we had that here.
