The End of an Era
...Or a semester, rather, but era always sounds so much more exciting. Not that the past semester was incredibly amazing in of itself, but at least it's now done! Had my last final on Thursday, and while I probably should've at least studied for it, it's behind me now and Winter Break is ahead!

And thusfar for the break, I have finally finished this picture:

Holy frelling cow...this picture took an *excessive* amount of time to color. I felt like I'd never get the dang thing done! But now it is done, and I'm...actually rather proud of it. 43 layers and I can't even count how many hours went into it. I think this'll go into my portfolio, which needs a lot more stuff in it, anyway (fanart doesn't count!)

While this took forever, I think I might use this shading and highlighting style for other pictures from now on; I like how it looks. Although the Disney-style colored lineart took a big extra chunk of time, too. *ponders*

Other than drawing, I've been being lazy or helping [livejournal.com profile] corrielle through FFX, which has been great fun. XD It's like getting to watch a good movie with a friend who hasn't seen it yet, except you participate in big chunks of the movie. We've also been watching Christmas movies, because hey, Muppet Christmas Carol > most everything.

In a few hours we have to leave to go to Beth's dad's funeral. I feel like I'm trying to block the whole experience out of my brain; like I'm just going to church or something else a little more formal than usual. This will only be the second funeral I've ever attended in my entire life, the first being for my great-grandmother who died at 94 fairly healthy and peacefully in her sleep. They had an open-casket funeral, which boggled my mind because the last thing *I* wanted to do was see my great-grandmother up there, not alive. I don't know how my brothers and dad did it. So I feel...rather unprepared for this afternoon. I guess we'll see how it goes. I don't think I'm very good at mourning. When something sad or bad happens, I try to ignore it happened, or cover it up with humor or something happy. I focus my mind on anything else I can think of but what I should be thinking of.
I think I'll feel a little more at ease when this afternoon is behind me. -_- *gives Beth some huge hugs*

Drawing: I'm *really* glad that I finally finished that picture! I'm also on page six of inking the short comic now, and I hope to have it done by this Sunday. After that, there's a gift art I plan to do, and then a KH2 fanart idea I've had for awhile. But even before that, I should also start getting that pitch together in keeping with my self-made schedule...

Writing: Nothing really.

Love the coloring job on this, Megs! And thanks so much for coming to the service and just being there for me in general. *hugs* And thanks to everyone who sent their condolences. Believe it or not, it does cheer me up just to know that people are sympathetic. Kind of like a solidarity thing, you know? Love you girls!
