Isn't kidnapping Santa a federal offense?
LOOKY LOOKY LOOKY at long last, I have a brand new shiny layout! It is the shiniest ever!

[livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin

It was made for me by [livejournal.com profile] purapea! Because she makes awesome stuff! :D

Also yesterday I spent helping [livejournal.com profile] yamikonumber7 move apartments. It was a hot hot day, so we tired quickly, but prevailed nonetheless. There were brownies and pizza and hilarious moments involved, so that's always good.

I got another egg today. I am really hoping this one hatches.

A Streetcar Named Desire
Watched this at Kia's place yesterday, and ehh...dunno how much I liked it. It was just largely depressing, since none of the characters were very good people (except maybe Stella, but even then she had Severe Issues). Maybe this one would have worked better to see as a stage play, especially since it was shot a lot like a play (little camera movement, all within virtually the same location). Also, maybe it was just the copy I saw, but it was kind of hard to follow what everyone was saying. At least I finally get to see the context for "I have always depended on the kindness of strangers" and "STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Donnie Darko
Honestly, this one was...an odd one. I actually didn't like it much up until the end, which is strange because I didn't quite get the ending, but I think I got it enough. It kept me guessing right up until the end (and even then after). I was expecting a movie about the darkness and insanity of a troubled teenage mind coupled with suburbia's thinly-veiled discomfort, and instead got...the darkness and insanity of time travel coupled with the thinly-veiled discomfort of alternate dimensions. /o__O\ Or all of those things together, probably. Donnie's sometimes childish and sometimes criminal actions do make more sense in the context of him operating in a tangent dimension in which literally the world will end because of him.

Also, Frank was creepy, but that's a given.

Also also, now I FINALLY know the true origin of "Sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion!"

You probably wouldn't but the black around the userpics in this section is SUPPOSED TO BE BLUE. I must have typed in the wrong number HRGGH.

I've seen DD twice, and...I'm not sure how to describe feeling about it, I guess I had this kind of unsettling feeling throughout it, like, you know it's gonna end badly somehow. It was trippy at times. I liked the song Mad World, though.

And yeah, Frank is creepy D:

Yeah, it was definitely unsettling, although I think that was the point...that everything was off-kilter, and it got weirder as it went on. The music was okay I guess; didn't do that much for me.
