Still waiting for the eggs to hatch, although one now has a big crack in it. Er...something with that metaphor. Man this is nerve-wracking...
Hey, so my 'rents are out of state for pretty much the next week or so...having fun up in Iowa. Since my little bro is often a busy dude himself, this leaves me alone in the house for the weekend. Does anyone want to come down and hang with me awhile Saturday and/or Sunday? Bring your swimsuit and we'll go to the hot tub! I'll make you pizza and we'll watch MST3K! Please let me know! ♥
Young Frankenstein
I watched this one with
bouncy_erbear, and I think I like it more than Blazing Saddles. Possibly even more than Spaceballs, which is saying something. I just got so many laughs out of it, including stuff I wasn't expecting to laugh at as much. I love how they were able to imitate the look of those oldschool monster movies in their shots, and have all of the humor work within that setting. The ending was a little odd, but not any worse than the Blazing Saddles ending. And I don't know why, but Gene Wilder is one of those few people who can make screaming at the top of his lungs really funny.
Also, Igor was a pimp. And probably the best character in the movie.
The Science of Sleep
This was...definitely an odd one. (It was also very European...I'm not sure how you describe a "European" movie, but I can recognize one when I see it.) I liked it starting out, but I think it kinda lost me the further on it went, going off on its own thoughts without me. Stephane started out as a sympathetic character...a deeply creative soul that feels more at home in dreams than reality, but spending more time with him, you discover just how childish and disturbed he can be. Nothing ever really gets resolved with him and Stephanie, they just come to a shaky understanding. It's really a shame, because they started out well, and Stephanie definitely has a creative side that she wants to share, but can't because of Stephane's issues.
As much as I liked Inception, I actually liked how they did the dream worlds more in this movie more...with the kind of scrambled pieces of reality, changes in size and physics, and patchwork language that often comes with dreams. (At least my dreams...I dunno about anyone else, but at least for me, I often find gravity's only halfway working in most of my dreams.)
