Mmmm Pancakes
Uhh, does anyone know if something wonky happened while LJ was down yesterday? All of my icons are now showing only my default, at least on previous entries. o_oa

And also: congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] bookworm12890 for winning the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti auction, and thanks for donating! :D Should be sending that fanart along soon. Also, if you wanted a piece from me but missed this auction, I think there should be a second round in about a month or so.

Speaking of Haiti, I've felt this strong urge to rant on politics lately, but I'm trying to avoid it...talking with dad doesn't help, because he's so good at giving me Biblical/religious backing for what I believe. |D

In other news, I've been a) watching a bunch of X-Files, and b) finishing a bunch of art. Here's the finished version of that pic from the other day:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This thing was definitely an experiment, and I'm not really certain it was a successful one, either. But not every experiment is, and at least I learned some new things.

For this painting, I went through kind of a crazy process: copied the perspective from an interesting photo, set up the drawing as a sketch in Sketchbook Pro, printed and then traced the final lines in ink onto mylar, created a color guide in Photoshop, then used the guide to paint the other side of the mylar in reverse, the way you do animation cels. So the final product is basically ink and acrylic paint on mylar.

Again, not certain if it was successful, since there was color bleed in places, the mylar was thick enough that it made everything way desaturated, and there may still be some perspective issues on the boy. :P But it was fun to do, and it's making me want to get back into more acrylics painting. XD Just gotta find stuff to paint on...

Drawing: Finished this stuff, character studies, now some more LG

My previous journals always show only my default icon. And if I change my default one, then all the previous journal entries change their icon too...

Love the pic! Especially the ceiling...

At least it wasn't a friend's comment that pissed you off about Haiti enough to talk about it 8D

GOD I was going to kill her. I'm glad she doesn't have a LJ, I needed to vent xD

"why are we giving money to haiti when we should be using it on ourselves? we have people who are less fortunate in our own country! country first!"

YES, because you can concentrate on only ONE PROBLEM IN THE WORLD AT A TIME, and if you give money to people who desperately need it now, you will have NONE LEFT FOR YOUR COUNTRY.

fffffffffffffffffffff

BAAAAASICALLY what she was telling me. We are not the richest nation in the world because we have the most cheeseburgers.

And then she mentioned some shit about "If I were China, I'd be pissed all the money I lent the US was going to Haiti instead of paying me back!" .....WE OWE EVERYONE MONEY AND VICE VERSA, IS SHE SERIOUS WITH THAT STATEMENT RIGHT NOW?

NO SEE A NATION'S WORTH IS MEASURED IN UNITS OF CHEESEBURGERS

WE HAVE THE LARGEST GROSS NATIONAL CHEESEBURGER

LMAO what even. We've been owing half the world money for the past 30 years, and still have been spending it on stupid things, but now we can't spend it to help people who need it because we have to pay back other countries? WELL OKAY THEN

YEAH AND WE CAN'T SHARE OUR CHEESEBURGERS WITH ANYONE ELSE BECAUSE WE SHOULD GIVE THEM TO OUR OWN PEOPLE.....WHO WE STILL PREVENT FROM GETTING ANY CHEESEBURGERS AND COMPLAIN ABOUT GETTING CHEESEBURGERS THROUGH GOVERNMENT COOK-OFFS.

She's a teacher in New York and was like "We don't have any money to give out!" Ah, no, see, your STATE might not have any money, but the NATION has money and plenty of it. You need to think of your state as a teenager and the nation as its parents. You keep asking mom and dad for money because you're broke and spent it on stupid stuff, but they keep telling you to make your own money because they're really not helping you unless it's an emergency. Mom and dad has enough to worry about without having to pay for you, too.

I just...don't get how her thought process is sometimes. Just because you owe someone money doesn't mean you can't go buy other things. Most people are in debt to some company in some way be that credit, loans, etc. That doesn't prevent them from using the money they get from jobs and buying food, clothing, necessisities, random shit they don't need, whatever. THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN DEBT.

AMERICANS MUST WORK HARD FOR THEIR CHEESEBURGERS, OTHERWISE THEY DON'T DESERVE THEM

Of course, mom and dad can go out and spend a paycheck or two on something else stupid, only to realize later that crap, they needed that money for car repairs. Still doesn't excuse teenager's stupidity, though.

While I can understand the want to stay as debt-free as possible (debt strains relationships, causes stress and mucks with the economy, and rarely do you get much in return) the fact of the matter is that at least in America, everyone has debt of large or small proportions. And yet, we still spend money on frivolous things. Why not take the money you were going to spend on something frivolous and send it to someone who, y'know, needs to have clean drinking water rightthehellnow? It's not like you won't be able to buy that frivolous thing a month or two later. \o_O/

IF THEY DON'T, THEY DESERVE TACOS 8(

Oh, definitely. Mom and dad aren't angels either, they like to pump money into stupid addictions like war the lottery, but at least there's a explanation for where the money is going. Who the hell knows what teenager is doing with the money they get.

But! It's my hard earned money I want to spend on myself and not someone else! What have they done for me? I don't know those people! (I've seriously heard this D:)

NO ONE DESERVES TACOS D8

My guess is teenager is spending it on iTunes and crack.

It might be better to hide than run in a library, unless of course he has two shadows. 8|
