Rant Alert!
I promised myself that I wouldn't do a rant on this, since it's beyond the bounds of reason. But I just can't take it anymore! Ranting season has begun!

The "militant" Harry/Hermione shippers are F*CKING INSANE. For just a taste of how psychotic some of these fans have gotten, Fandom Wank has some of the latest horrors.
In a nutshell, many (notice I'm not saying ALL) of the Harry/Hemione shippers were more than upset with Half-Blood Prince, and with JK Rowling effectively sinking their ship with Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione (for the record, I'm a fan of both, but I can see where H/Hr could get a few random ideas earlier on.) According to these nutcases, they're demanding an "apology" from JKR for crushing their precious hopes and dreams (i.e., that H/Hr isn't canon, GOD FORBID!) and have started *rewriting* Half-Blood Prince with a H/Hr twist. And by rewriting, we really mean copying the book word-for-word and replacing Ginny with Hermione when it's convenient. Can we say LAWSUIT, boys and girls?

This is just plain ridiculous as it is, but some of the details irk me even more. The select few involved in this project believe they are MORE than justified in their endeavors, and that anyone who doesn't agree with them is obviously a troll or a hater. I'm not quite sure how much more delusional they can get.

And from that page on Fandom Wank, one (former) H/Hr shipper pointed out: "But rewriting just about the whole book to change the shipping gets to me. Like, if someone bought one of my paintings, decided they didn't like it, and painted over it, I'd be really hurt and angry, since they should have known what they were buying and liked it for what it was, not what they wanted it to be."

To which the webmistress of the site replied: "If someone were to take one of your paintings and paint over it, then you should look at what they've done as a chance to see your idea from THEIR point of view. Also, have you ever heard the addage "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"?"

As an artist, I would just like to point out that this is COMPLETE BULLSH*T. You don't buy someone else's artistic or literary work, change the essential nature of the painting or writing, and expect the actual creator to take it as a critique. It's not imitation or parody, it's ILLEGAL, not to mention rude and very disrespectful. And if you hate the original so damn much, MAKE YOUR OWN! That's what FANFIC is for! *insert collective GASTHP*

I simply cannot comprehend why these people are throwing so huge a stink over this, as if their lives have been forever SHATTERED because their ship was sunk. *Nobody* in their right mind goes out of their way to *insult* the creator of a work just because they have a teeny problem with one portion of it. Here's a few facts to consider, crazy shipper-people:
1) It's ultimately JKR's story. She can do whatever the crap with it she wants. The responsibility she has to her fans does NOT extend to apologizing for including her ship. If your panties are so twisted, you can write fanfic and draw fanart to your heart's content. That's what it's there for. You don't see the Sirius/Remus shippers (or any other shippers for that matter) throwing a hissy fit. Heck, both them and Hermione/Draco and Harry/Draco carry on their merry ways, even though JKR sank those ships VERY soundly. So boo-hoo all you want, you're still beind childish.
2) Taking her published work, tweaking it slightly with a H/Hr twist and then calling it your own "parody" or "version" is BS. You're a moron if you think so. Anyone who agrees with you, even if they slogged through ten years of law school, is also a moron.
3) You've got serious issues if you think the Harry Potter series is all about the romance. It's not. The romance is a nice aside. You want romance, go check out the paperbacks in the romance section; there's more than enough of that there. Harry Potter is NOT about romance. Romantic, sexual love will not save the day. That's not the point. Get that through your HEADS.
4) Come on...how could you NOT see Ron/Hermione coming?
5) You're making the rest of us fans look bad. They're just BOOKS, for frell's sake! Even when they screwed over X-Files, I didn't try to kill the internet or throw insults at Chris Carter. I wrote fanfic and drew a fan-comic. I felt better, and I moved on with my life. You should try it sometime.

So, congratulations, suckers! You lose the internet! XD

Otherwise...I completely forgot I had work today. My boss had to call me while I was lounging at the beach. I'm a complete idiot. ;_;

Operator status: Haven't had a call in hours.

Drawing: Did a bunch of life-drawing sketches at the beach today, I liked how some turned out. ^^ Intend to start thumbnailing the short comic tomorrow.

Writing: Still haven't worked out more of those story pitches... *kicks self* Again, will hopefully do more of that tomorrow.

H/Hr *WANGST*
Oh, and it just gets WORSE. In this article from Fandomwank, lj member narcissam chronicles a H/Hr thread where the plight of the H/Hr ship eventually gets compared to......get this....*slavery*. Yes, yes folks, that is right. Someone actually *said* that.
*GAGS*

You can find the whole article here:
http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/772909.html#cutid1
the slavery comment can be found about three scrolls down, under the heading "And then Panther brings down the thread with this gem:"

I weep for the *SANE* H/Hr shippers, and I've never been gladder to *not* be one of them.

~Rei

PS. Re: the article/thread: Anyone else think it's funny that suddenly R/H shippers are known as "Herons" and H/G shippers are knowns as "Choclateers"?? Can I get a WTF?
Have I *EVER* heard this before? No. Am I *fairly* active in the HP fandom? Yes. The H/Hr shippers evidently call themselves "Harmonians" (*SNERK*).........right..... These cheesy nicknames for ships must be primarily a H/Hr fandom thing, because I certainly don't consider myself a large white bird....

Re: H/Hr *WANGST*
Actually, they've named most, if not all the ships. You can find the ship list in Madame Puddifoots on mugglenet.com. HMS Harmony is H/Hr, HMS Heron is R/Hr. I haven't heard the choclateers one, though. Just thought I'd point that out.

*phew!*
Thank goodness I'm not a die-hard HP fan. *rolls eyes* Some people really need to get a life. >.<
I liked the book. I disliked some parts, but those little things made up the story, so I had to love 'em. Grow up, people!

Ooh, missed work? ._.U not good. *lol* XD

Rei and I were having a good laugh over the whole situation last night. For some HILARIOUS icons poking fun at this whole mess, go here and scroll down a bit, past the ones of just Snape and just Hermione. My favorite? "Harry/Hermione: Help! Help! We're being oppressed!" *sighs* Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike fans may have had their own merry little war, but it was all in good fun... nothing like this, that I was ever aware of.

Wow, i have seen many hardcore fans demanding for thier i deal character matches come true... but that's ridiculous. >.>;;;

Like Lynxgriffin said, though, how _could_ you not see Ron/Hermione coming... ^^;;;;

But then... i've only seen the movies...
*runs for cover from objects being thrown at her*

Actually...

....actually, Ron/Hermione is even *more* obvious in the books than it is in the movies.

That said: read the books!
*throws copy of Philosopher's Stone at you*

LoL ^_^
