Dear Disney,

Please to be doing less of that Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers junk and more of this:

PLEASE AND THANK YOU. Seriously, talk about candy for my eyes.

Speaking of Disney doing epic pretty, what do you flisters think about that new post-apocalyptic steampunk Disney game? :O

So I totally got bit by the modeling bug lately. And being the stupidface that I am, I thought I'd start on something really super difficult YAY 8D

YES I WANT TO TRY AND MODEL FINAL BOSS!ANSEM.

So this is the early blocking out the model for the base Model in Maya. Instead of building the entire model off a single cube, I just created a bunch of different cubes and positioned them in space so that I could better keep the pose of the picture.

And this is the finished base model: all the various cubes connected into one model. The only tricky part of this thing will be the fact that Ansem himself isn't symmetrical. Then I did UVs:

Just pulled the whole thing apart in Headus and flattened it. Then to stitch it back up...

Holy crap I SERIOUSLY am happy with how these UVs came out. I feel like the biggest loser on the planet nerding about UVs but I was somehow able to hammer them out quickly and use 0-1 space well and YAY I AM HAPPY WITH THEM.

Since my UVs are all worked out properly, the next part is the fun (and long) part: ZBrush!

I almost feel like making a tutorial for this model...but since it's so complex it probably wouldn't make a very good tutorial subject. :P

Drawing: This and digital painting homeworks, which will come later.

SERIOUSLY THAT WAS SO GORGEOUS

Also it looks like it would be hella fun to animate. ;o;

I KNOW RIGHT? I'm not huge with surrealism, but asjdfnakdf DO WANT.

Also, the steampunk Mickey game looks EPIC. I'm waiting for the "this is ruining the Disney image" or "disney is not srs enough for this type of game" comments to roll in.

Surrealism is give or take with me, but it's just so much EYE CANDY in animation. It's a wonder there isn't more of it, really.

Oh yeah, I'm expecting all of that, too. Because apparently it's just impossible to keep any character integrity the second you change the art style. But if they keep it close to the concept art then I'll so be all over that.

Disney is still making films? I guess I must have blocked out a lot of the more recent things. Oh well.

Apparently this short was actually finished awhile ago, but yeah, they've been doing more shorts recently. I hope they keep up with it!

IT DOES. I really want to read more on it, just to see what kind of other stuff they thought up.

... that right there is the entire reason I want to go into animation.

That. Right. There.

That was beautiful.

Seriously. I just can't help thinking of how much FUN that would be to animate, what with everything changing across almost every frame. Disney needs MORE OF THISSSS.

It usually gets deleted really quickly. The last couple of times I watched it, it was gone the next day.

Seriously? Why does it keep getting deleted? D:

Probably because Disney isn't profiting off of it yet 8D the copies that are on youtube now are only demo tapes; the DVD won't be released until next year.

I'm still trying to comprehend post-apocalyptic, steam punk, and disney in the same phrase.

Yup, I'm using Maya for the base, and I'll be switching to ZBrush for the rest.

I am so glad that they're doing some more traditional stuff now, and I really hope they keep up with it!
