I'm trying to use the motivation/inspiration I got from Comic Con and the cool people I met, like Glen Keane and Pascal, to my advantage as much as possible and keep expanding on the art front. Because dangit, I need to keep improving! I'm considering starting some kind of sketch-a-day routine to keep myself at it (even though actually I should be doing more than just a sketch a day, at least that far is a better start). But right now, some stuff I did yesterday:
Someone else on ye olde flist was doing speed paintings based on photos: just paint over a photograph in 30 minutes-hour to keep loose, figure out what's most important and keep parts of the brain open. That sounded like a good idea, so I tried it on a photo I'd nabbed from mom:

Kinda like it! I should make an effort to do more. :O
Also, in my digital painting class we had to do some value-only speed paintings for LOTR. Here's five I tried out (not really based on the movie too much)

Some of these are also photos that I painted over...it's seriously so much less stressful to just paint over a photo that already has good composition and lighting without having to worry about figuring out how the environment should look yourself. @_@ I've started collecting photos a lot more recently (also helps that
abandonedplaces has so many good photographers!)
Also, while I was sitting around and chatting with cool dudes at con, I did some random sketches of Daisychain!verse Clover:

...Except I'm pretty dang sure Clover can't leap like that or climb buildings. |D OR CAN SHE?!?!
And apparently I royally screwed up with last week's Lunargyros, and never got the chance to fix it. :P So HERE are the latest two Lunargyros pages, actually working this time!
Yuck, gotta go to the dentist fairly soon...
