AN ANNOUNCEMENT
Dearest ladies and gentlemen! A momentous occasion in the history of...nothing important! As of my last tank fill-up, gas is now officially...

OVER FOUR DOLLARS A GALLON! \O/

I'd like to thank the United States government and associated oil companies for making this raping of my wallet possible! :Db

Right! So. Disneyland on Tuesday was pretty fun and easygoing. Did a few rides, a lot of just walking around, and of course I brought back delicious candies. There was also lots of reminiscing over Disney movies. Why the heck does D-Land sell everything BUT the movies themselves? I mean, you'd figure.

Then [livejournal.com profile] lady_entropy17 came over to my house for the night, and we chilled summore and watched a bunch of movies! This included MST3K eps since she hadn't seen them, and 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' since I hadn't seen it. We also watched 'The Company of Wolves' since I just happened to have the DVD of that, and it was...really weird. ANGELA LANSBURY, NOOOO!

But some badness...I came home from D-Land to discover that my mom had snapped her achilles tendon while playing tennis, and it's now in this big cast and she's going to need surgery and almost months of recovery. I just...sjdksfjlafjdla. Really really worried for her. ;_;

Uugh. I need to go figure out my schedule for next term. I also really need to start...emailing. People. I can't believe I almost only have two terms of school left... T_T

And of course: there's a new Lunargyros page from Tuesday! Weeee exciting plottimes.

Wow, this meditative music is...kind of strange on the brain.

Drawing: Whatever I can, at this point.

Writing: Same old.

Current Mood: groggy

Rising petrol prices suck. We have a similar issue with our government over here.

Really sorry about your mum. Good luck to her with the surgery!

Thankees.

Psh, it's not a meal here. D: I think I can get a meal for less than five dollars at...one place nearby?

The government needs to grow some balls and tap into the oil goldmine that is Alaska.

Yeah yeah, natural preservation and all, but we can't preserve the environment if our economy's in shambles can we? :| We wouldn't rely on OPEC so damn much that way.

Psh, what the government really needs to do is actually start investing serious money in fuel OTHER than petroleum, like hydrogen or algae farming. Ethanol sounds nice, but it screws up food production and is sometimes just as taxing on the environment. Considering the fact that Alaska wouldn't last forever, and pretty much every oil expert agrees that we WILL run out at some point, we might as well save ourselves the environmental, political and financial headache and wean ourselves off of oil ASAP.

That's the ideal solution definitely, in the long run. \o/

It'll probably take a while to develop an alternative that burns as efficiently as petroleum without screwing us over in some other aspect, so the gov. needs to do something to keep the prices from manhandling our wallets in the meantime.

I wouldn't put my blame entirely on the oil companies though, since OPEC is the one artificially jacking up the prices by not refining near as much as they could/should.

Yeah, I definitely think there's more than one group at fault for all of it. At the end of the day, though, it ultimately comes down to people making a profit at the expense of the general masses (both here AND in even worse situations overseas), or people being unwilling to spend money on a solution that will benefit everyone because it's too expensive/will not net them the biggest profit.

Our gas here just jumped from 3.77 to 3.85. I see over four dollars coming in the very near future. *sighs* I can't AFFORD to go to WORK anymore!

Sorry about your Mum! I hope everything works out to give her the speediest recovery possible.

Seriously. D: My commute is pretty lengthy anyway, so I have to fill up about once a week as it is. I feel like it's almost costing me as much to commute to school as it would for me to be paying rent on a place within walking distance of it!

Thanks!
