The Powar of GAWD! (BLOGGER 12-7-04)
Wow. So for a school assignment in Journalism, I was assigned several different choices, one of which was to attend church services at the "Faith Dome" on the old Pepperdine campus. Since I didn't have the time to go to any others, I decided to go there. Acchan and Osaka-chan were kind enough to accompany me, and Acchan was kind enough to drive considering my windshield mysteriously got a %$@# crack in it...

And wow again. I knew very little about the church, except that it was huge and predominantly black. The website didn't give me much info. We got there in the freezing rain, and sat down in the middle section of the huge dome. All of the members there were very friendly. As a dyed-in-the-wool Church of Christ kid, I actually wasn't that bothered with most of the service...even the faith healings and speaking in tongues bits. Whether any of that was "real" or not wasn't for me to decide. What bugged the crap out of me is when the preacher opened his mouth and started the sermon. I had never attended a televangelist sermon before, and I don't think I will anytime in the future. The guy just wouldn't stop going on and on about how righteous HE was and how humble HE was (haha...) and how people should send him money. Acchan and Osaka-chan tried to take notes, and just ended up MSTing the sermon until we couldn't stay any longer. It's quite incredible that this is what needs to be done in order to get a spot on television.

Yeah, it was bizarre and a little unnerving, but I'm glad I went, if for no other reason than to get out of my comfort zone and see how a large percent of the population went to church. And according to our professor, that church is the largest provider of food and clothing to the homeless in the Los Angeles area...they have huge hangars where they hand out dozens of sets of clothing to the homeless for free. So who knows? Maybe some good does come from such godawful rhetoric. Stranger things have happened.

We're slowly getting ourselves settled in the new house, and despite its problems here and there, I'm liking it quite a bit. My room, while not 100% discrepancy-free, is pretty much organized. It's sort of strange having a room to myself after having to share one for so long, but I think I can get used to it. ;) We're also slowly getting the kitchen and living room organized, both of which desperately need it. It's so nice having a fireplace... XD

Considering the fact that this is the last week of classes and that next week is finals, things are going fairly smoothly. I handed in my screenplay yesterday, and while there are some problems with it, at least it's done, and I now know what it takes to write one. I have a presentation to give today in Communication Graphics, but I'm so un-worried about it I'm probably screwed. I should be able to finish the other things I need for my other two classes by this weekend (hopefully...) Which'll leave more time for things I want to do, yay!

I'm really looking forward to Christmas and such this year, and hopefully I'll be able to *force* myself to relax. o_O; I also really need to go buy Christmas presents for people! Will probably start online tomorrow...

Operator status: Geez, people are just all up in my face today. Repeat after me: I am NOT God...I do NOT know where every single person is every waking moment of the day...

Maya PLE comprehension status: 24% ...Man. Now I lost track of the little story I was telling.

Macromedia studio comprehension status: 47% I sure do hope I learn a lot in the two classes I have next semester...

Website reconstruction status: 63% Did a bit more on graphics for Lunargyros. Not much on the site itself, though.

Drawing: Just finished thumbnails for my entry for RSOM 5. I'm realizing this will probably take up a bunch of time I was going to use for Lunargyros, but hopefully it'll be worth it. ;) Also, I'm working on gift arts and cards for people.

Writing: More than halfway done with the Van Helsing script, yay! XD Will hopefully finish it sometime this weekend.
