Attack of the Sequel-Breeders (BLOGGER 11-16-04)
Rei-chan directed me to this article today, and I can hear Pixar crying from here.

Really, Disney. Don't you think you've taken enough of your OWN movies and bastardized them into unnecessary sequels? It's direct-to-video sequels that cause you to lose your credibility in the first place, and make what would be die-hard fans into bitter, snubbed fans that would rather give their attention to a company that cares about the products they put out. And hey, if you want to make money, why not try spending some time working on NEW stories and making them good, just as you made The Lion King, Aladdin and the Little Mermaid memorable works of art and storytelling? Because if there's one thing Pixar's been trying to teach you for the past ten or so years, it's that a good story will always make you money...and more importantly, it will create loyalty, which makes you MUCH more money.

But no. Because Pixar has been your saving grace, you've decided to repay them by making ANOTHER sequel to Toy Story with some shiny new studios that you paid for by tearing down the old 2D studio. Yes, Toy Story 2 was wonderful. That was because Pixar 1) made the dang characters in the first place, and 2) REWROTE the ENTIRE story of Toy Story 2 when they were halfway through production, because they didn't kid themselves that their first ideas were "good enough." They knew the story was wrong, and they cared enough to FIX it. And past experience tells me you don't care enough to try that yourselves.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Incredibles, and I am already looking forward to Cars. But what I'm *really* looking forward to is what Pixar has planned next once they no longer have to adhere to Disney's inane money-making obsessions.

Maya PLE comprehension status: 24% ...However, they decided to escape using a Force Quit command...

Macromedia Studio comprehension status: 47% Haven't had the chance to tackle anything again, but will probably do so tonight when I get home.

Drawing: Well, I felt better after that little Artist's Block session over the weekend, and got back to work toning and inking Lunargyros. Even if it is still greyscale instead of dot tones, it looks good enough I believe, and I can probably switch to dots in the future as I become better with them. ^^
May try and work more on KH2 fanart today; also the marvelous Wyna Hiros just finished our collab piece. Rock on! Go now, and admire her maaad CGing skills!

Writing: Nothing at the moment, but an article for Journalism and the remaining pages of my screenplay are coming up fast.
