First off, I apologise to anyone that's emailed me and I haven't written them back...I've been rather busy with school starting and all, and am trying to adjust to a new schedule. If I don't get to answering them today (which doesn't look likely) then I'll probably tackle it tomorrow.
Oh yeah...today's not Wednesday! I have an extra day to do Great Books reading! *is relieved*
So while I haven't even touched Nickelodeon in years, I may start watching a show coming up on Sundays called "Unfabulous," which is following in the grand tradition of Lizzie McGuire craptastic shows about Middle School (my opinion of which is below...) At first I heard it was starring Britney Spears' little sister, but now it appears it stars Julia Roberts' niece, which may not necessarily be for the better. So why am I watching it? Because if my sources were correct, the show was filmed on MY campus over the summer.
This is really no surprise...companies have been filming on our campus for years. It's in Malibu, which means it's a short commute for most movie people, it's gorgeous oceanfront property, and there's lots of room to stick filming stuff. However, I don't think anyone's filmed an entire 13 episodes of TV there before. (Not since I've been there...) I remember them filming because there would be signs posted all over the place with their show codename "Zoe", and lots of filming trucks. I'm just massively curious to see which parts of the campus they filmed, and to see if they filmed the interiors as well as exteriors. (I highly doubt this, but it'd be funny if they did.) If they actually used the Comm building, I'd laugh even more.
But this show is supposed to be about a middle school. My first thought is: our campus as a middle school? HA! Maybe if their middle school was owned by Wealthy McRich, or on the moon. There's a dang big difference between a middle school campus and a university campus, and that's even more pronounced with ours. I really have no clue how they would film a campus without giving away the fact that it's a university...unless they plan to include fountains, coffee carts, huge theatres and all that student and faculty housing dominating the horizon line. Who knows. Maybe they took less exterior shots than I thought, but they were filming there for a LONG time (most studios only stay about a week) so my guess is they needed a lot of footage.
I guess I'll just have to watch the show and see. I just hope they'll have enough shots of the campus for me to laugh at instead of so much Pre-Teen Angst. Ugh. Where'd all these middle-school slice-of-life dramas suddenly come from? I don't remember watching those when I was that age. Television was actually entertaining. The shows they want kids to watch nowadays make me gag.
The show starts this Sunday...as does our first D&D campaign! I've never played before, and I'm very excited to start. XD It looks like it'll be a lot of fun.
Operator status: Very busy. T_T I need to eat lunch before my shift is over; 'cause class comes right after work.
Maya PLE comprehension status: 24% Completed the Subdivision surfaces tutorial! I kinda messed up at the end, but at least I understand *how* I messed up.
