Happy Senorial Day!
I am reminded once again why I adore Homestar Runner.

Well, it's Memorial Day, and here I am at work until midnight, enjoying my wonderful Memorial Day frozen dinner! Oh yeah, we're excited!

Meh, oh well. I really really need the money (especially since I just had to pay the government about $200 total...) and since nobody's calling I'm basically getting paid to do whatever the crap I want. At the moment I'm working hard on completing those comic pages in time for the Tokyopop portfolio review on the 7th...coming up super soon, yikes! I still have two pages left to ink and four left to tone and letter out of six. If I complete a page a day, I should be okay. I just hope the review thing goes well, as I've never done one before, and basically have no clue what I'm getting myself into. T_T

I head back to the internship tomorrow again. Last time went significantly better, mostly because I had a bit more to do and didn't have to answer any phones. I found out that one of the lower-level producers was interested in comics, and he noticed me sketching at my desk when I was work-less. He talked with some of the artists and suggested that I try helping them out with drawing stuff, woo! XD I got to draw orthographics views of a trash can, although apparently even that I managed to screw up. Hopefully I'll get the chance to draw more props and such in the future (I doubt they'll let me take a crack at characters this early on.) At least I'll be getting training straight from professionals. It seems weird to call them "professionals" when most of them can't be that much older than me...at least, they don't look very old. I also feel a little awkward since it's very much a boy's club. However, I already knew that animation was a male-dominated field going in, so I better get used to it fast.
What's also interesting is hearing news of the TV animation world itself...the crew that's working on this season of the cartoon is *entirely* different from the crew for the first season, so they're trying to pick up where the first artists left off. Most of the guys working in the artists' room are from Klasky Csupo (the company that is famous for 'Rugrats'.) Much to my surprise, according to the artists, Klasky Csupo is pretty much bust at the moment...they just finished producing their last show, at least for now. Not more than a year or two ago, they had so much work that they were shoving artists into trailers to get all of their shows done. But very suddenly, absolutely *none* of their new pitches were picked up by any of the networks...and all of their old shows ended, including the Rugrats spin-off. Now that big, beautiful studio is all but empty, because there's no work to be done. I remember visiting the studio way back in high school, and seeing how huge it was and how many people worked there. The thought of it being near-abandoned is shocking. Just goes to show you that business is scary...and it pays to be flexible. o_O

Rei-chan flies back home on Saturday, and then we're celebrating Kel's birthday on Sunday. Looks like this weekend is going to be busy! And I still need to see Episode III a second time...

Otherwise, I'm still eagerly anticipating Anime Expo and Comic Con. XD Now if only I had the funds to do everything I'd like to there... *gulp*.

Operator status: Quiet, for obvious reasons.

Drawing: Finished the FFX fanart and one KH2 fanart that I did real quickly. Am still about 60% done with the other KH fanart, although that's not going to get done until I finish these comic pages first. I've got two more pages to ink and four more to tone, so...back to work I go!

Writing: I started working on a Hollow Bastion guide and approximate floorplan, just 'cause I felt it was needed. Sometimes I even scare myself with my dorky-ness. XD
