Morning Commute (BLOGGER 8-29-04)
I have come to the shocking conclusion that to some degree, I *like* my morning commute. I don't like the getting up early part. I am usually in a "the world sucks and needs to die because I am up before frelling 6 AM" mode until I get some food and shower in me, and then I am fine. While the freeway is not exactly the best part of the commute, I love driving through the canyon in the latter half. No matter what the weather is, it's always fascinating to look at. Today it was extremely foggy, even before I got into the canyon, so everything had a mysterious, suspenseful feel to it, like you never quite know what's coming up next, even if I have driven it a million times. When it's really clear out, the whole mountainside seems green and shiny and wet, and very alive. It's like exiting civilization, spending 10 minutes in a jungle, and then coming back out again. Even though technically the terrain is sub-desert, there's enough growth to make it seem jungle-like. More than once (usually in the afternoons) when I'm driving back, I'll see a hawk or eagle fly over my head and then dive into the canyon like a missile, and I'm always completely taken aback by it. I love seeing things like that when I'm driving.

Perhaps with all these interesting things I'm seeing, I should be paying more attention to the road?... ;)

Just felt like writing about that for some reason...otherwise, crazy things are still happening. We saw "Hero" on Friday night, and all breathed very loud sighs of relief when the subtitles came up with Chinese dialogue. Yay for no dubs! I went into it having really no expectations and no idea what it was about, but I really enjoyed it. The use of colors in storytelling fascinated me; as color palettes would differ depending on who was telling the story and what the story was. I could definitely pick out the anime influences in it, just in the way the story is told. I think it's very interesting how stories in the West and East are told differently, and for what reasons.

Saturday I continued my chore-doings from Friday (bleh...) but V-chan and Sai-chan and I also went to the anime store in the TO mall. I intended to only buy Wolf's Rain disc 2 (ha ha...) but ended up spending quite a bit more. I bought TEXHNOLYZE disc 3, Eva manga #4, and Wolf's Rain disc 2 (more Tsume and Kiba! *insert fangirl squeal*) Will probably read Eva #4 at work today. And Nausicaa #7 (the last one) is in the mail! Yaaay! XD

Otherwise, it's Sunday and full-time school starts tomorrow. I am so unprepared it's not even funny. I managed to go and buy my books, and will probably go buy more supplies this afternoon, but I am mentally and emotionally very unprepared. I am surprised by how long this summer seemed to be! Probably because I working for most of it. :-P I am still going to have to get one of my classes as a walk-in...the *second* time I've had to do that for a class for my major. It's rather sad that the classes I actually *need* for my major are the ones I can't get. *grumble*

24 hours from now, I'll be in a Journalism class. Frigdamnit.

Spiderman 2 puppet show completion status: 100% Go me. XD Have no clue what's coming next...if anything does happen to the site, it will probably be moving servers and revamping the look. And that's a big fat if.

Maya PLE comprehension status: 15% Just upgraded from version 5.5 to 6. I hope nothing drastically changes between the versions, as it will probably make my head explode. T_T
