It's a Raulbix Cube!
It's a week of seeing people again for me, it seems! Emailed some dudes that I haven't talked to in awhile, and today Florian, our exchange student from almost 14 years ago, is visiting! I remember him being so much taller when I was a wee bitty, and now he's not that much taller than me.

Otherwise I've been Boring McBoring lately. I beat the Elite Four in Heart Gold (WOOOO FERALIGATR), and started a new game of Okami. Aaaah that game is still so beautiful.

So, have a meme:

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to post with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

I got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] chicanery, so heeeere goes!

1) Often when I need to write something, I'll write it on paper first. This includes papers and essays, emails to people I don't know well, cover letters, fanfic, some RP tags, thought-out posts...I do them all on paper first. I feel like I think better on paper...I type faster than I write, so writing forces me to slow down and think about what I'm writing.

2) I do puzzles to relax. When I was a little kid, like three years old, I would spend five hours doing the same 20-piece puzzle over and over again. Nowadays I often do a large, 1000-piece puzzle during Christmas break. When I start on a puzzle, I become so intensely focused on it that it becomes extremely difficult to tear me away from it.

3) I have always been a notoriously picky eater. It was worse when I was little, and I've gotten a tad better since I've gotten older, but I'm still difficult to feed sometimes.

4) This may have been contributed to by the fact that we were fairly poor when I was very little...we didn't eat much variety in foods, and few fresh vegetables. Also when we were little, we had a grand total of three videos for me and my brother to watch. One of those was Swiss Family Robinson. By the time I was four, I could hear the music in the movie from the other room and go "here comes the tiger!" because I had memorized when the tiger first showed up based on the background music.

5) I enjoy repetitive, even menial tasks, as long as I know how to do them and that I'm doing them correctly. I can sit in one place doing the same thing over and over for hours on end, which probably makes me pretty boring. |D

6) When I was a junior in high school, I was having such a difficult time that I very strongly considered quitting school and just focusing on getting an art job. Looking back, I'm really glad I wasn't so stupid as to do that.

7) I sing along with the instrumental songs from video game soundtracks while driving. Certain "racing" songs, particularly this and this, may be bad for me 'cause they make me want to drive faster.

8) I HATE being late for things. I'm pretty much nearly always punctual, and I'm not sure why I'm that way, but I am. I can't stand showing up late for something, and I'll secretly be annoyed when other people that I'm supposed to be meeting are late.

9) Sharks have been my favorite animal since I was a little kid. I had a whole bunch of shark books, toys and stuffed animals then, and I knew my shark species much better then. In the kids' books I drew as a five-year-old, I made a shark one of the good guys. (I've STILL got most of those shark toys.)

10) I can't stand makeup. Don't like putting it on, don't like wearing it, don't like taking it off. If other people want to wear it that's fine, but thusfar all attempts to get me to wear makeup have ended in failure on my part.

11) I tried having an imaginary friend for about two days when I was little, just because it sounded cool. But it proved too difficult to keep up with all the time.

12) I have small hands and feet, and this nearly always gets commented on if someone new sees my hands or feet for the first time.

13) I LOVE cereal. I have it every day for breakfast and occasionally for dinner if I'm too lazy to make anything else for myself. I could totally live on those cereal bars they have at many different movie and game studios. I am especially fond of sugary cereal...don't like chocolate cereal, though.

14) I wish I was more generous, both with my money and my time. I sometimes worry that I'm too self-focused and don't pay enough attention to what other peoples' needs are.

15) I also wish I was more adventurous. I prefer having stability and routine; I like waking up and knowing what I'm going to do all day. I don't know why, but it's hard for me to take chances on things, and I wish I was better about that.

16) I hate sitting in silence. I have to have noise on almost all the time...whether music or a movie.

17) I worry that I'm less goal-oriented now than I was in the past.

18) I've been to 16 different foreign countries and 15 different states, which means I've been to more countries than states. I've gone up the Eifel Tower, traveled on a boat through Venice, swam in the Dead Sea and gotten stuck on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall...but I've never been to Catalina Island, which is just a few miles from here.

19) I used to be fluent in German, but I've forgotten it all now. D: What happens if you don't practice!

20) When I was really young, I carried around a plastic T-Rex toy with big sharp teeth. You could make it swallow small objects, so I liked to stick smaller toys in its mouth and make the T-Rex eat them. I didn't like my dolls, and hid them behind my bed because they scared me.

21) I don't like being anon on the internet, and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have gone anon. I'll read secret/anon comms all the time, but I get really uncomfortable doing it myself. Generally, if I wouldn't say it with my (internet) name attached, then I don't say it at all.

22) I don't like holding grudges. Maybe it's because no one has ever wronged me horribly, but I can't think of anyone that I really hate, or that I have a terrible grudge against.

23) I like animals more than I like people, generally. Which isn't to say that I don't like people...I think most people are generally good, kind, interesting and thoughtful. I just like animals more, and I think they're more interesting. I think maybe I'd be better off if I found people as interesting as animals, but I don't know how to make myself do that.

24) On a related note, I suspect that if I had fallen in with a different crowd when I was younger, I could have been a furry. As it is, I'm really glad that that didn't happen. Not because LOL FURBASHING LOL, I like furries fine; but because I think if I had just "grown up" in a furry community that I wouldn't have had much reason to challenge myself artistically. Not being in an all-animal-art-all-the-time environment I think has made me care more about actually getting better at drawing people, which I DO want to get even better at.

25) I first decided I wanted to be an artist at four years old, when my family went to visit the Boston art museum. (No money meant we went to a lot museums for free, especially the natural history one, which was my favorite.) I saw the paintings in the art museum at four, and said "I want to do that when I grow up." And it hasn't really changed since then.

Uhhh I'm too lazy to actually go pick 25 from the profile page, so if you want to do it, BE MY GUEST. /o/

Drawing: Working on some paintings, actually. Also some more LG.

Writing: Working slowly...
