Firefly fanarts!
Just finished this tonight, yaaay:

Uh oh, Kaylee has stumbled across Simon's doctor tools! What shenanigans shall ensue now?...

I absolutely *love* Kaylee/Simon from "Firefly," and after seeing the movie "Serenity," I just had to do some art with them. XD How can you not love the extreme cuteness? *hugs them both*

Was fairly happy with how the characters turned out here (they were easier to recognize than Benson and Stabler were, anyway). The coloring was pretty speedy, though.

And then, just a chibi doodle:

Bow before Wash, peons! He is king of the plastic dinosaurs! Wash is love! XD

I got a hot wax for my face today...first time I've ever tried it. Owie, my face still stings! XO (And my eyes still water from time to time...) But the gal who did it was quite nice, and I wasn't the one paying, so it's all good.

We're heading off to Little Tokyo tomorrow for celebration-type thingies, and I am slowly realizing there is a growing list of items I need to purchase: a new purse (my old one totally broke while in line at the store), some Pocky, some manga if I can find it (prays to find Dramacon) and the September issue of Playstation Magazine, 'cause it's got KH2 goodness. XD

Drawing: Need to make a few changes to the RSOM pages, as well as make a final attempt at the character designs for the short comic. ^^ Just finished doing this today; now to coloring the KH fanarts I started! May do more Firefly/Serenity sketches in the future, and try for a more realistic vibe...

Writing: *sigh* I'll need to start up the play again soon... Did finish reading 'The Eyes of the Dragon' for class; enjoyed it muchly.

Kinokuniya ate my wallet. AGAIN.
So I just got back from Little Tokyo, where we were celebrating OPR-kun's totally awesome finishing of his Master's in subjects of the graduate school level completely beyond my comprehension. I hadn't been to Little Tokyo in awhile, so it was fun!

First and foremost we went to the shabu-shabu house for lunch-dinner (linner?) That little place was so crowded that we had a two-hour wait, but it was worth it because it was shabu-shabu and I was hungry and it was GOOOOOD. I scarfed everything down quite quickly (especially since it was so packed) and then had an iced coffee, with the liquid sugar that you use instead of normal crystal sugar. Iced coffee = also very good!

Then, onto all kinds of fun shopping! XD I had meant to buy a purse, but alas, I didn't find anything...we spent most of our time in the bookstores, anyway. I spent waaaay more than I should have, but it was lots of fun, and I don't go to Little Tokyo that often, anyway. Here be the total list of stuff I blew my salary on, and the stories behind them:

- Little chocolate and strawberry-filled Japanese snackies that I like so much (they didn't have the blueberry Pocky I wanted; awww)
- Dramacon #1! Holy frell, I was happy to find this! ^^ (Must sit down and read super-soon)
- Also found I Luv Halloween #1! Go me! XD
- Evangelion #9 in English...I wasn't looking for this, but I picked it up anyway because I have NEVER see anything past #8 in any other bookstore I've been to, and I had at first figured that Viz had just given up putting out anything else. Since I had absolutely no clue if I'd ever see it again, I snagged it anyway.
- Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Ultimania guide book. It's in Japanese so I can't read a lick of it, but I bought it anyway 'cause I'm just that ridiculously obsessed. It's fun though, since it has practically everything about the game in it, including frame-by-frames of every sleight imaginable...and hey, now it matches my other Kingdom Hearts guide that I totally cannot read! XD
- FFVII: Advent Children soundtrack. Was not expecting to buy this either. But alas, as we were standing in the checkout line:
Em: Hey Megan, it's the Advent Children soundtrack!
Myself: ............YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TOLD ME THAT.

And here's what made me happy:
I went to Little Tokyo wondering if I would find any OEL manga there, since I was afraid there would be this bias against it. But I was *delightfully* proved wrong! I actually found Dramacon in a random anime hobby shop (where action figures of Gamera tempted me with their extreme dorkiness) along with all the rest of the manga there, and I bought it in a heartbeat. And when I we did our traditional stop by Kinokuniya, not only was there OEL stocked with everything else, there were MULTIPLE COPIES of most titles! As in, they cared about it enough to stock more than one! I even saw almost ALL of the RSOM titles in a row, which I haven't seen at B&N and Borders since. It made me so happy (and I found it a little ironic) to see a Japanese bookstore stocking more English manga than American chains! OEL can overcome its prejudices yet!
So yeah...if Borders and B&N fail you in the hunt for titles, go to Kinokuniya, because they DESERVE your business. They have more difficult-to-find manga stocked there than I've seen at anime conventions.

In my reading splurge of manga that is quickly flooding my shelves, I've finished Steady Beat, Van Von Hunter #2, and Off*Beat. Reviews and suchforth shall be following soon, woohoo! \^o^/ Although I'd like to finish Dramacon and I Luv Halloween so I can do 'em all in one neat package...may finish off one of those tonight. Weees!

Drawing: Will probably start on another of those fanarts while I've got the time and the Photoshop in front of me; although I wanna read my new purchases, too...damn, choices...

Writing: Same as before.
