Animatiooooooooooon
Went to Disneyland again today (or more specifically, California Adventure) and did a bunch of arts! I was actually pretty happy with what I did today.

I really wanted to try and do a small watercolor painting, in an effort to get over my fear of watercolors. These things are still way hard for me, I don't know how a lot of artists do it. But it was still nice to just sit and paint for awhile!

Sketches of people just walking around.

Doodles of peoples' faces, which I like doing because it forces me to look at different face shapes and looks. I don't know what it was, but today I just felt like I overcame some kind of hurdle regarding peoples' faces. I know I still have a bunch of hurdles to go, but I jumped over one and that makes me feel good!

So I went to the animation building, which I like drawing in because it's like being blasted by a constant stream of HOLY CRAP AMAZING ART ON GIANT SCREENS BURNING INTO YOUR BRAIN, and did some character exploring for more characters from that story with the war dolphin:

Dr. Hathaway, the scientist in charge of the dolphins that work under the U.S. military. A researcher before she was "drafted," she's aloof and doesn't spend much time with people, but does like animals.

The main protagonist, Armonda, is a Commerson's Dolphin from South America. An exceptionally fast swimmer, she's joined the U.S. program in the hopes that her hard work will earn her pod a trip to America, where they can get plenty to eat.

Unfortunately, her training partner is Button, a Bottlenose "farmboy" dolphin from Minnesota. Raised in captivity, while he's smart and well-trained, he's also a bit of a snot and a braggart. Button mistakenly believes that he is partnered with Armonda to show her how to be a good soldier, but really it's the other way around.

Dr. Bogdanov, a mad scientist working for the Russians. He invented special technology to make sharks super-smart, and the Russian military has used him in their training program for shark spies. While he is working for the Russians right now, really he just wants to make a shark army to take over the world. He is rarely seen without his pet eel, genetically altered so that it can breathe air.

Sandy, an assistant at the research facility where Dr. Hathaway works with the dolphins. No one knows if Sandy is a man or a woman, because ze is never seen without the scuba gear on, and never talks to anyone. (Hello mute game character!) Sandy manages to communicate just fine without speaking, anyways. Ze is probably the one to spend the most time with the dolphins.

Also Mayla, an Oceanic White Tip Shark working as a Russian spy shark. It's her job to keep track of the dolphins' movements and report back. While she is working for the Russians, really she's out for number one, and her loyalties are not so clear...

And that's what I did today! Also, since we're talkin' animation stuff anyways, have some shorts:

This short, I am not even kidding, GAVE ME NIGHTMARES LAST NIGHT. I think this is by a Pixar artist, but it is so creepy I can't even handle it.

Now that you're creeped out, have some sheer badass awesomeness as well. (The good stuff starts around 4 minutes in, though.)

Aaaaand uh oh...was trying to avoid it, but I now have the AMV bug something fierce. I expect that to dominate much of my brain until I can finally finish it. 8Da
