Getting over yesterday's gloom...

I have a few questions, and some pictures.

FIRST AND IMPORTANT: Does anyone out there in LJ land know how to embed .jpgs into an .html file so that you don't have to pull them from an outside folder or source? Or, that failing, does anyone know how to save out an .html file made in Dreamweaver as a PDF or other viewable document? Basically, I really need to figure out how I can put up the puppet shows for download. However, upon testing, it seems that none of the images work from a downloaded file because they can't find the source. D: As I'm trying to take down the puppet theatre site by the end of next weekend, I'd really like to know if it's even possible for me to do this! (The fact that this is all going to have to come out of Dreamweaver kind of worries me.)

Otherwise, I realize now that the weekend I thought that the family reunion was is on another weekend...which totally leaves me free for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! So I'm wondering: who out there is going to a midnight party? Which bookstore were you planning on going to for said party? I've never been to a Harry Potter midnight party before, and seeing as this is the last one they'll ever have, I'd like to have the experience at least once. So, let me know, so that I can make plans, too! I'm excited for this last book, for all kinds of reasons. ;D

Just a doodle. I like drawing scary things with nasty teeth. :P

Probably already seen by most, but here's the upgraded Polaris model with some texture on him. It still needs some work: I can't figure out how to keep the texture from being double-sided, and I need to add a teeth and tongue to the bottom jaw. But I hope that I'm improving somehow...

Drawing: I'm up to speed on the latest comic pages, but I'm not quite sure what to tackle next! Maybe the commish? New pages? An FFXII fanart I've been wanting to do?

Writing: Finished the next chapter of MWWBK! :D

There's no way to embed pictures into an HTML file. The closest you can do is save the entire page then package the HTML file and its accompanying folder into a single .zip file. Webpage to PDF is heinous; I've never seen anything other than Office documents saved as PDFs, and pictures in those have been pretty dicey in my few attempts.

Well, damn. D: Do you know what would be the easiest way to make all of those html puppet shows into something downloadable, or would I only be able to do it with a zip?

Compressing it as a .zip (or the file-archive format of your choice) is the easiest thing I can think of. Depending on your directory structure, it may be simpler to make an archive of all the shows at once, rather than trying to do them individually. What do you need to make them downloadable for?

I'm shutting down the Hand Puppet Theatre site, so I wanted to make the puppet shows available for download for anyone who wanted to have a copy. :o

(I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the effort, though...)

Where would they download from? It's simple enough to save them as is, they just have to save the page and any decent browser will yank the graphics into a local folder too.

I was thinking probably Megaupload, SendSpace or the like.

Huh, would a save as preserve the scrolling ability, too? :O Since pretty much all of the shows require a ton of scrolling action...

OMFG NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN'T SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! My friends and I will make a petition if we have to!!! We were so looking forward to Spiderman3, Harry Potter5, Pirates3, Narnia2, as well as so many others. omg. donnnnnnn't

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really, really sorry, but it's just a matter of I don't have the time, money and especially the interest anymore. D: I do appreciate the thought, but at this point, I don't think a petition would change my mind. I've been thinking of shutting it down for awhile now, and I'd rather put out nothing at all than a crummy, un-funny puppet show that I put no effort into making. I would just personally feel better if I took it down rather than leaving it up and abandoning it. (Plus, there's the whole money issue.)

What does "shadows are expensive to render" mean?

As one not yet in 3D classes, your notes are confusing and I feel like they'll bite me @_@

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It just means that shadows in particular take a long time to render, 'cause the program has to think about them more. :P

I don't really understand half of what they tell me, either... @_@

Movie Theater??

Are you still doing Jerry the Frog Productions? If so, I was wondering when your Spiderman 3 parody would be out!
