The names have been changed to protect the visible

Aww man, I had a really awful nightmare last night...one of those layered, semi-lucid ones where some part of you knows that you're dreaming but most of you is unable to stop, so you confuse your wanting to stop dreaming with having actually woken up, but you haven't, and...yeah.

It kind of started with me getting in a car pileup...I was in the passenger seat with someone I didn't know driving, and the car in front of us stopped suddenly and we hit it, but this resulted in a bunch of other cars being banged up. No one was hurt but there was suddenly all this damage (somehow even a computer tower got hit by the cars; I don't know how that happened.) However, even though I wasn't the one driving, I was somehow to blame for all this damage...because I had put my hand on the wheel for a split second. The cost of it was freaking me out.

Then I was suddenly teleported in to an entirely different part of the dream...in a dead end in a really dingy part of town, there was this massive building that was somehow a combination of convention center, church, and school (specifically Gnomon). I walked inside because there were some really suspicious characters outside, and saw Gnomon people trying to set up a big employment fair booth in the main convention arena. Except they weren't setting up computers and booths, but like, really hot and heavy lights for filming equipment. I offered to help since it looked like they were struggling, but the teachers said they didn't need any help, so I kept going.

I went down to a lower level, where the building started to look less like a dark convention center hallway and more like a very fancy home, with sweeping marble pillars and statues and long oriental rugs. Beyond that, the hallway seemed to stretch in two directions like two highways. I overheard some kids (students for Gnomon?) talking about them wanting to go see a horror movie called "The Weiss," about a cruise ship that was alive, and lured people in to slowly devour them. I knew one of the hallways was leading to this movie, because I could see parts of it...things like a series of floors folding in on themselves like they were stacked cardboard, blood dripping between the floors. There were rooms where everything was decaying and filling up with sand, or rooms distorting into eyes made out of paper and plaster.

There was one girl there in the hallway who wanted me to come see parts of the movie because they were here in the building. I told her no, I didn't like horror films; I would just read spoilers on the internet. Somehow I got tricked into seeing one of these rooms, something about opening the right pathway there by taking some owl feathers out of a black ceramic jar and scattering them across the entrance. I found myself in a disgusting, rotting public bathroom with the girl, when this old TV on wheels comes out of a stall toward us, showing this old TV cartoon of a dog. I somehow knew that now I was inside the movie instead of just watching it, so I tried to get out, but could hear this loud, alien voice in the building trying to keep us there and kill us. I left the girl because she didn't seem to care about anything, and tried to find a way out...the place was coming alive; there were screaming faces a la "The Wall" in the doors, and when I went up to the area with the sweeping marble pillars, the statues were twisted and grotesque. Like the whole building had turned into a massive dionaea house. The Gnomon convention was gone by the time I got there, like someone had torn down the booths in a hurry, and then I got outside and met my parents on the building's steps. But even though they were trying to reassure me, I somehow knew that this was just an illusion from the alien voice, and that I really wasn't free of that place. There were one or two more Inception-style layers of false-wake-ups, because there seemed to be at least one level in there were Amaterasu was there to save everyone, and then finally I woke up. D8

...You know for once I would really like to remember a nice dream. 8(((

Rope
Another Hitchcock movie, and this one the quintessential murder mystery, which is really what he's best at. (Also, very few of his woman issues in this one!) It's got the same sort of feel as Rear Window or Wait Until Dark, in that all of the action takes place in a single location, in this case in one apartment building. In fact, I think the entire movie only has three cuts in it total. (I thought it'd do the whole movie in one cut, but sadly it didn't happen that way. Still, three cuts is way impressive! (And okay, looking it up now, it seems it all WAS supposed to be one continuous shot, but the technology at the time wouldn't allow it.)) Leave it to Hitchcock to build tons of suspense by not moving the camera at all, and not even showing who's talking...just indicating the inevitable end to a character's actions.

And of course, there were the two killers. I totally wanted Brandon to get his comeuppance, which in the end he did...he was a psychotic sociopath with a massive ego, and in the end it was his own ego that brought down his perfect murder. But man, that didn't keep the suspense out of it. Really great film-making.

Okay, let's end with something a little happier:

So was talking with [livejournal.com profile] princealia and [livejournal.com profile] dorkage, and had a bit of fridge logic. Jiminy Cricket rides in Sora's hood everywhere he goes...so what does he do when Sora and friends visit form change worlds, like Atlantica? He should get form changes, too! How come no one has thought out any form changes for him yet?

So I came up with some different form changes for Jiminy when they go to different worlds. XD
- For Atlantica, he's a shrimp
- For Halloween Town, he's a little bat
- For Timeless River, he's...oldschool
- For Space Paranoids, he's a bit!
- And for Pride lands, he's a flea.

Comes with bonus sketch of lion!Sora discovering that sometimes a conscience can be itchy. XD

And hurrggggh only 9 days to BBS and I still haven't found my PSP! WHERE COULD IT BE D:

He has to write all of his journals by saying YES and NO over and over. XD

[identity profile] princealia.livejournal.com 2010-08-29 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
omg a binary journal. That's probably why he's pissed off xDDDD

Tron is from the 80s, too, so technology was really primative, then xDDDD

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2010-08-29 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much XDD

...Which kinda makes you wonder, does this mean that all Hollow Bastion computers are still stuck in the 80s? XD

Considering Merlin was like "noo omg wtf technology DD:!!!", there might be a few computers still running like...Windows 95 xDDD

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2010-08-30 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
(I love Merlin and Cid too much.) But hey, as long as they're not running Windows Me!

Still, three cuts is way impressive!

There's actually nine I think, with ten separate takes.

And of course, there were the two killers.

That's because the movie was inspired by the Leopold and Loeb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopold_and_Loeb) case.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2010-08-29 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, considering how often they'd zoom in to someone and zoom back out again, that makes sense that they'd do some cuts like that.

Ahhh, that makes sense more sense! :O
