Obviously a few I had to change up, but all in all I think I managed to get everything on my list. While some movies I liked more than others, I'm glad I went to the trouble to see everything, just to now say that I've seen it!

Sunshine is back home from the vet today...she was bitten on the nose by a rattlesnake yesterday. 8((( Luckily, my bro caught it early and was able to run her down to the vet in about 15 minutes. They got her on an IV drip with antivenin real fast. Luckily she was able to get home fairly soon, but she's still recovering very slowly...she's very tired and her face is puffy, and she's been having a lot of trouble walking. She keeps tripping over her back feet, and it takes a lot of effort for her to take any steps. I just really hope she gets better soon. ._.

Also got to hang out with ghettopeach and sbcpanuru, who I haven't seen in a loooong time, so it was awesome to get to hang out with him again! We had delicious seafood and watched MST3K.

Otherwise, today was kinda slow and upsetting. I'm still sitting on the egg and worrying about the dog, mostly.

So apparently Satoshi Kon died, which is really depressing news. :( He wasn't that old at all, and it's sad to think we won't see any more of his films. Maybe I should replace one of the movies on my list with one of his (I still haven't seen Millennium Actress, for one thing).

There were good things yesterday! Went to the Gnomon preview day yesterday, saw some dudes from school that I haven't seen in awhile, and also talked with a few companies. Afterwards, yamikonumber7 and I went to see Rifftrax Live, and hooooooly crap we laughed our heads off. That was an awesome show full of many lulz. I need to get that one on DVD. XD

I also completed a page of things yesterday. I need to keep doing more pages of things:

Less good things today...my tablet is dying, and fast. D8 The cord is torn at the root where it connects to the tablet, and there are little bits of wire starting to twist out. Pretty sure the tablet is past its warranty. Which means I need to either magically be able to fix this wire (very unlikely) or else it's time to buy a new tablet. Uuuuugh this is money I did not want to spend. X(

Help me out, artists on my flist. What would you recommend? I am looking at either the Intuos 4 Wireless or the Intuos 4 medium-size. I had an Intuos 3 before and an Intuos 2 before that; it seems they've discontinued those since then. I would loooove to get a Cintiq, but I just can't afford it right now. :( Does anyone on my list use the Intuos Wireless? How is it? Is it worth the extra money? If this last tablet is dying because the wire got twisted up, then it may be advantageous to avoid wires in the future...

GATHER 'ROUND KIDS, I GOT A STORY TO TELL YOU TODAY.

I went out to the dentist today with both my parents, with the plan being that after the dentist was done (and my dad got his hair cut), we would drive out to one of the car dealerships I wrote down to start bargaining for my new car. The dentist and the haircut both went fine (yay no cavities!) so we sped over to the car dealership further north.

We were going with the intent of replacing Falcon Peak, and since I really enjoyed that car, we figured we'd go for another Ford Focus. I test drove two, they both felt fine and I would have been happy with either. Both used cars; we have always bought used cars. I think the salesman thought I was a teenager or something, 'cause he kept complimenting me on how good I was driving, and asked if I was under 18. Maybe he was just being flattering or something, but dude...I've been driving for almost nine years. I know how to brake properly. 8| Anyways, we intended to try and buy the Focus with less miles on it (only 17,000, wow!) Dad explained how we were replacing the car that got totaled, so most of the payment would be the insurance money, plus a little extra from savings. We already have two car payments in the works, plus both my brothers in college, so the intent was to pay in cash right there instead of financing. In dad's experience, you can bargain down a used car about 20-25% of the listed price and it will still turn a profit for the dealership while being much easier on the buyer. So dad gave the salesman a price that we were willing to pay (about 25% off the listed price), and the salesman went to talk to the finance boss.

Now, before I go any further, there are a few things you need to understand about my dad.

Anyone who has met my dad in real life (and I know there's a few of you on here!) will know that he is not an intimidating man. He is a short, very small, very scholarly-looking guy. Glasses, graying beard, nice shirts, the whole "elder book nerd" deal. He is generally soft-spoken and compromising. He doesn't lose his temper. He doesn't raise his voice. When he is angry, he is usually pretty quiet, and I very rarely see him get angry. That's just not how he rolls.

Got that? Cool. So anyway, after fifteen minutes of waiting at the desk (a rather long time for this, really) the salesman comes back out after talking to the finance guys. He shows us the price that they are willing to go for, which is...nothing at all different from their original price. In fact, with the necessary taxes, licensing and other fees, it was more money than the window price. There was no bargaining here.

And holy crap, dad got ANGRY. His face and neck kind of tightened up and his face started to change color a bit. He leaned forward like he was preparing for an epic tableflip. He raised his voice to just a couple of levels below yelling, and was all "No, I am not willing to play this game with you." There was just a little bit of banter between the salesman and dad, but he wasn't willing to back off and talk to the finance guys about going down, so dad basically went NO, GTFO and we got up and left. I have not seen him get that angry in years. My mom and I were sitting there with these O_O looks on our faces the whole time. DAYUM.

So, I did not get a replacement for Falcon today. But I did get to see what happens when small-and-quiet Lynxdad feels he's being cheated on a car. And that is not something you'll see every day...or any day, for that matter!

I've decided what movies I'm going to watch through the month of August. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! Tried to go with what is cheapest; couldn't find everything on YouTube, but we'll see. I may or may not do random thoughts on them while I'm watching throughout the month.

Also, the verdict is in, and apparently my car is completely totaled...it's not worth the cost to repair it. :( Which means I'm going to have to say goodbye to Falcon, and when the time/insurance money is available, go shopping for a new car...

I will miss Falcon Peak greatly. It's never given me much grief, and has been faithful through the rest of my schooling at Gnomon, many trips to Disneyland and other cons, and late-night food and airport runs. Great engine gummis gave it a lot of pep for such a small car. We planned so much of Daisychain, especially lots of the endgame, while in Falcon Peak. It was a source of all sorts of creative brainstorming, and was patient through my constant motormouth syndrome. I'm sorry it had to end this way, Falcon...you will be missed. :(

Well, aside from my car getting smashed up and all, it was a pretty good weekend! My brother was kind enough to lend me his car until we went and got a rental yesterday, so we were able to do everything we planned! This included Disneyland on Saturday (my birthday and Disneyland's birthday) with purapea, ggmoonycrisco, yamikonumber7 and universejuice! Yes it was crowded and hot, but we still managed to do everything that we set out to do. We rawked all over the place.

Sunday, I took GG and Pura out to Hollywood, where they were able to get their tourist on with the walk of the stars and the major theaters like the Kodak and the Chinese Mann. We also went and saw Toy Story 3 at the El Capitan (I cried...again!) and got delicious ice creams at the soda fountain. Very successful! I'm actually glad I decided to pony up for parking instead of having us walk all the way from Gnomon.

Also had birthday dinners with friends and family on Thursday, which was also very nice! I got some sweet stuff:
- Cash for the con (much appreciated)
- This really adorable Sora amigurumi from GG
- Delicious British candies from Pura
- A new sketchbook from the fam
- The MST3K boxset XVII, which I will watch with anyone, anytime 8D

AND NOW, today will be for a little grocery shopping and packing stuff for San Diego, with bonus Traditional Con Freakout Time. I don't have a laptop to take along, so you probably won't be hearing from me on the internets until I get back. I can't wait to see both old and new friends there!

So I've been putting Behemoth to work printing today, and in that time, I finally went and finished up Final Fantasy IX!

( Some thoughts, which include spoilers...do spoilers even really apply now? )

SO YES. Thoroughly enjoyed it, as I figured I would. Is it my favorite? Probably not, but I've never really been one to go THIS IS THE BESTEST FF EVAR ALL OTHERS SUCK anyway. I suppose I should get an FFIX icon now, since I seem to have one for every Final Fantasy game I've finished. XD

Yesterday I also finished writing the script for Lunargyros. It feels...a little strange, at least having the whole thing written out now. Like a part of me is now worrying "did I give it the ending it deserves? What if people don't like it? What if they get to the end and are all THAT ENDING STINKS WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" Even though I've had the ending in mind for years, just having it there in front of me feels different. I guess I won't know for sure until I actually draw it and put it out there. Man, the end of the comic is going to come before I even know it... ;~;

- I do like all the voices. Aqua's voice takes some getting used to, but I actually think it fits her (calm, serious, rather formal way of speaking)
- Does anyone know who's actually voicing Terra? He sounds good to me, too.

- Oh shiz I just realized that's the ice titan!

- OKAY SO. Obviously Re:Coded is coming to the DS. So what the heck is this KH game that's supposedly coming to the 3DS? It's got KH1!aged Sora and Riku, in Traverse Town...remake of something? Another side story like they hinted at earlier? EXPLAIN, SQUARE! EXPLAAAAAAAAAAIN!
- On a side thought...if it is a remake, a redoing of KH1 with a working camera and some extra playable areas wouldn't be half bad.

Aaaand some other thoughts from watching the livestream of the press conferences:

- Out of the three big consoles, Nintendo had the most interesting. More game content, more new features, less I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT WII SPORTS!
- I may be biased, but all FPSs look the same to me. :/
- New Zelda game looks pretty sweet...love the colors!
- Out of the new Sony stuff, Portal 2 and the Tron game are what I'll be buying. Everything else looked shruggable. Not planning to buy an XBox 360, so oh well on that.
- I am fast getting the impression that we are staring into the glass ceiling in terms of game graphics. Which may be good, because hopefully once companies and consoles slam their heads into that glass ceiling, they'll focus less on graphics and gimmicks and more on story and gameplay.
- Okay, Epic Mickey DOES look really awesome. It's kind of worrisome, 'cause I wanna play that game real bad, but I do not currently own a Wii. I've just borrowed my brother's, and soon he will be out of state for good. I may have to try and find a Wii somewhere just so I can play this sucker. 8(
- Seriously what is that KH game for the 3DS

SPEAKING OF VIDEO GAMES. FFIX is finally out on the PSN today, and I've been meaning to play IX for awhile since it looks like my kinda FF, so I'll be downloading that today! :D Wooo, can't wait!

I might be having some work coming soon...not the egg I mentioned earlier, but a nice alternative in case that egg doesn't hatch, at least in terms of it hopefully lasting longer than a couple of days. However, the turnaround is very fast on a lot of work, so I can't help feeling nervous. I suppose it can't be much worse than the animation I had to do for Growth, but we'll see. My least favorite part of this industry is the hurry-up-and-go...I'll be much happier once I know what I'm doing and how much time it'll take. @_@

Uuuugh I'm STILL sick. Not as bad as Sunday, but it hasn't gone away completely...I'm still congested and coughing all the time. I've felt like a slug all day...barely gotten anything done. I was going to make dinner but I still feel like crud and I probably shouldn't be getting my breath and snot all over stuff my family will eat anyway. D: Just go away, cold! Rrrrgh!

PHEW. It's been awhile, but I'm back on now! This past week with princealia and dorkage was pretty dang awesome, but busy! We did most everything that we could...toured around the campus, went to the beach (it was way too windy, WTF Cali), and other locations in Malibu. Sorry the hills tried to kill you, Shi and Diane. D: We also drove through the big studio areas of Burbank, and walked around Hollywood near Gnomon a bit, where they got to see the megatheaters and all the Hollywood crazies. 8D We got lunches at the Disney soda foundtain and actually went to see Oceans at the El Capitan. Aaaah it was so pretty; I love the ocean and sharks and watery things. Also, they had a preview for Tron Legacy, and DAAAAAYUM. I hadn't seen this preview before (I just saw the teaser) and I am all over that movie when it comes out. It looks epic.

Sunday and Monday we did California Adventure and D-Land back to back, and managed to get to everything that we wanted to do, including California Screamin', the Aladdin musical spectacular (got really good seats for that!), Indiana Jones, and dinner at Blue Bayou. Pretty exhausting by the time we were done, but definitely good times. yamikonumber7 also joined us for the D-Land day, so we were able to run around with a party of four. And now for full park comparisons, I just need to get out to WDW sometime! XD

Since all three of us also had Days, we also tried out multiplayer mode for it. OMG, there was so much LOLing it was ridiculous. Days is definitely a laugh riot with multiple people playing together, if for no other reason than what the characters do when they win (or lose) a mission. I need to do that again sometime!

Well that's the short version of this week since I'm not a big photo-taker and I most often served as host/tour guide, but yes, it was a ton of fun! We did lots and procured many nice things! Hopefully we can do it again in the future. ♥

Not much time to rest, though...I've got work early tomorrow, a lunch meeting on Friday, and I really need to get back into the art swing. There's like five different things I want to work on. 8P

Visited gaelic_bohemian at her campus the other day, which was funness, even though my favorite shoes broke. D: (And they don't make those kinds of shoes anymore, sob...) I got to see her shiny new iPad, which is seriously one of the shiniest things ever. If they made that thing work with a tablet pen instead of just your fingers and someone made a drawing-in-Photoshop app available, I would be on that thing so hard.

I ALSO beat Okami again yesterday...this time beat it with all of the stray beads found, so I was awarded the String of Beads at the end of the game. HEEEEEEELLS YEAH I AM SO AWESOME. I swear, some of the quests you have to do to get all of the beads are insane! I also got S-ranks in all of the game categories, so I also unlocked all 9 of the karmic transformers, plus the video and concept art galleries. 8DDD Sooooo much shiny I don't even. This calls for a celebration of some kind. XD
