Teeth: You're doin' it wrong

Tomorrow in the morning I'm getting my wisdom teeth out, since I need to do it before insurance runs out. Apparently one of the teeth came in sideways, so it has to be taken out in pieces, and I'll be out for the whole thing. I've never been put under before for these sorts of things, so I'm a little nervous. {8( That, and I'm an enormous wuss and am afraid of pain.

Sooooo if I'm nonexistent/out of it/loopy for the next couple of days, that's why.

Wow. Getting my wisdom teeth out was one of the funniest experiences of my life. I was out for the whole thing. When I came to, someone was LOUDLY singing "This Ol' Man." I opened my mouth to yell at them to quit it, but when I moved my mouth, the singing stop. Turns out I had been singing nursery rhymes for quite some time.

I had a great experience with it. They tell you to go home and sleep, but I went home and played video games. Sure I was loopy, but I almost beat the game. Just take it easy and eat soft foods for a while. You'll be fine.

...Oh great I'm probably gonna start spouting video game music while I'm under. 8D;

Yeah, SERIOUSLY dude, you won't feel a thing while they're doing it. You ache a little bit afterwards but that's what pain pills are for. I played FFX-2 while coked out on pain pills after my wisdom teeth surgery, and I think it vastly improved the game.

...

...am I the only one who enjoyed X-2 more than X?

I think so.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm getting some of those. XD I wish I had a new game to get through, but I just have Shadow of the Colossus and that game isn't exactly relaxing.

My wisdom teeth never grew in, so I can't really relay any stories other than what other people tell me: that it's relatively easy to handle and you get to dope up on painkillers.

You'll be all right! Make sure you have someone there when you wake up that can relay to you the goofy things you say/do.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, lucky you. XD Even without the whole surgery thing, they hurt a couple've of times and it sucked.

Oh yeah, I'm required to bring along a driver and all that, so my dad'll be there.

[identity profile] ecojak.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I have a feeling I'll constantly be reminding you that toasters can't have jelly-filled babies afterwards.

And just one crooked? Hell, I got both.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Not crooked. Sideways. As in, it's literally facing sideways while everything else is facing the right way. And there's another one that's poking into nerves in my sinuses :P

...Toasters wha?

[identity profile] ecojak.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
...Lynx, you have some... ah. Interesting teeth, then.

Typing while loopy. It was a joke HA HA LAUGHING.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
That one's a rebel.

HA HA HA TYPING!

[identity profile] ecojak.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Lynx has the whole freaking ShinRa company in her mouth. RUN TOOTH RUN.

HA HA PSP TYPING

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
That would be inconvenient and mako-tasting.

I COULDN'T DO IT.

[identity profile] ecojak.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Zack-muse says it tastes like jello.

Just don't eat his hair.

It makes you asplode.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I remember that part. :/

[identity profile] ecojak.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Zack: HEY DAHLIA. COME TRY SOME BLACK SPAGHETTI. :D

[identity profile] ecojak.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Exploding hair, Unbirths, heros with keys...

...is Nomura even sane?

[identity profile] wyna-hiros.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
You don't feel anything while they're doing it. More like, the doctor is talking at you (maybe telling you to count backwards) and then BAM you're awake again (not even realizing you went out) and they're telling you they're done.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
This is what I've heard, so I'm trusting it to be true. o_O I'm actually more worried about the recovery part afterwards, but I guess there's no way to avoid that.

[identity profile] swyrel.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain. Sorry you have to go through that. At least you'll be under! I didn't even get that option, and the three that they took out had to be done in pieces.

Umm...some advice in case you haven't had a tooth removed before: do not use a straw, eat lots of mashed potatoes (the only thing I could eat for four days), and don't take pain medication while your mouth is still numb. The pills and drink all end up on the floor while you're left there still in pain.

Good luck!

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Uuuugh, really? D: Why didn't they put you under?

Huh, why not use a straw? I was told Jamba Juice was a safe food for after that sorta thing

[identity profile] swyrel.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
They didn't put me under because I didn't ask to be. I didn't know that you could for that type of thing, and my dentist didn't bother to offer the info... It hurt really bad, especially since I have a very high tolerance for medicine. What they gave me didn't affect me at all. The only thing that helped was the happy gas. I love that stuff! XD

You shouldn't use a straw because you will get a dry socket. This is when the blood clot comes out too early and exposes the nerves. It's really, really painful, so it should be avoided at all costs. Also, I don't know if you're a smoker or not, but you'll need to avoid that as well if you are. That can cause dry sockets too. Oh, be very careful brushing too. I couldn't brush my teeth for three days after (mostly because the pain medication didn't work) and got a cavity. O.O

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
That's weird, the doctor pretty much said that they were gonna put me under anyways because that would be best. XDa And bleeeeh, that sounds like it sucked!

I'll try to be careful around straws, but I'll ask the doctor about it. And I'm not a smoker, so I'm not gonna worry about that. But ugh, I hope I can brush my teeth.

[identity profile] hystericblue42.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
After you get them removed, be sure to let me know what it was like to be put under. I'm told I need surgery to actually reposition my jaw and I am scared. Wisdom teeth removal may or may not be involved, and braces will most likely be involved.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'll do so whenever I'm coherent enough to type afterwards. XD (And bleh, that stinks!)

[identity profile] sexpress.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
My dad had to get ALL his wisdom teeth taken out in pieces and it took him a while to recover. One tooth shouldn't be a problem, though; you might just be a little more sore on that side for longer. GOOD LUCK~
