Time to flood you with images again
Well, the anticipation thing has been stretched into summer at this point, so I'm not even going to touch on that right now. I'll just say that...yeah, same old song, again.

I'm back to jobhunting again, but some more opportunities have come up, so here's hoping they work out.

Tomorrow I'm driving all the way up to San Francisco to go see The Manga Flute, which I did all the backdrops and the prologue images for. If you're in the area, go check it out! This is my first time heading all the way up to San Fran, especially on my own, so hopefully everything will go well. Because the drive is so long, I won't be back until Monday night or so...will blab about the experience when I return!

Also, I finished another storyboard! :D This is one I've been working on for awhile (since the start of the year) and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! I wanted to go with a self-contained story, with no dialogue and lots of acting. Actually ended up redoing an old board from years ago. Under the cut is both the paper version, and an animatic version:

The Morning Dog )

Still no new LP because of busted computers, but here's some more All Hearts and waking-up drawings...

All Hearts - Cerberus and Hades )

Under-covers drawings 314-334 )

Drawing: FINALLY finished up the opera stuff and the storyboard! I've got a board test coming up, plus All Hearts and such.

Boarding collab?
I have another post to do later, but for now, I’ll just go ahead and post this:

I have a big ol’ request for people on my flist, related to something I asked a long while back. I want to do an action-oriented storyboard for portfolio purposes, preferably of established characters so that I can show I can do that. However, I really don’t know where to begin with that, since I don’t have any story ideas. But I know many on the flist are more into current action-based or superhero shows than I am, and have a better grasp on the characters and such, so I am wondering if some will help!

The request is thus: write out an action scene for me, and I’ll turn it into a storyboard for you! I just have these parameters:

- Have the scene be no more than a page long (so super short for you!)
- Have it include at least three characters; four or more is fine
- Have it include some kind of big action involving all the characters: a fight, a chase, etc.
- It must involve established characters from a current or recent series (such as Young Justice, any other current superhero shows, TMNT, A:TLA, etc.)
- It can be something new, or something plucked from a fanfic you’ve done in the past, it doesn’t matter.
- It can be prose or script format; whichever you prefer.
- Links to good episodes to look at that your scene is based on are helpful!

If you’re interested in doing this, please let me know and we can work something out! Thank you coolest dudes!

The Worst Easter Ever
Before we get to the main story, here's the latest waking-up drawings:

Under-covers drawings 31-34 )

Since we are coming up on Easter this weekend, I suddenly feel like it would be a good idea to tell the story of the Worst Easter Ever. Many of you have already heard this story because I love to gross out the people I consider friends, but for those who don't, here it is. Complete with illustrations! Yes I know this is kind of ripping off the style of Hyperbole and a Half, but hey, if it works it works. Really, the best part about childhood misery is having internet acquaintances laugh at it!

If you really cannot stand talk about bugs, you may want to skip over the story of my Worst Easter Ever. No, seriously. Although this story is spider-free, it is definitely not bug-free. There will be many bugs.

The Worst Easter Ever )

So Happy Easter, everyone! 8Db

In related news, I just had a Cadbury egg, and daaaayum I love those things. They're sooooo good.

New boards dump
Furfles, I am both quite happy and really frustrated. Frustrations are related to RP things (but not related at all to Second City things; so don't fear SC dudes). I guess there is not much I can do about it now except wait off this disappointment and wait in general to see how things go. XP

Luckily, the more important things are happy, and that is that People Whose Opinions Matter For My Career really liked the last storyboard I did! This means that I am slowly improving on my boards and am getting closer to Dream Job goals! XO/ Hopefully I will continue to improve! So now I'll share this board with you dudes:

Life's a beach )

And finishing this off with more waking-up drawings:

Under-covers drawings 21-24 )

And ONE MOOOOOORE THING...new Lunargyros page is up today; read it here.

Moving things
I've made an animatic version of the Bremen Town storyboard! No sound or music, just trying to fit things together better. Dialogue is included, though.

Since mom had the day off for the holiday, we went and saw 'The King's Speech.' It was definitely an Oscar bait movie, but was still good! Colin Firth was totally convincing. Really drew you in and made you feel the pain he felt about his speaking. I've gotten into the habit of analyzing any new movie I see with a boarder's eye, but at least I learn something new every time. Also talked a bunch with my mom about it once we were done, since she's had a lot of study (and personal experience) with stuttering/stammering problems.

I tend to skip out on the 'Oscar bait' movies when they come around because lol, animation/geeky movie nerd, but I should probably watch them more often, just to see what's going on with them.

I'm starting to think maybe I should stop reading the news or looking at the political blogs that I do, or at least as often. Just seeing how much is continuously wrong in the world and with lots of people is, I think, starting to drain on me. It all feels so immensely large and overwhelming that it in turn makes me feel utterly helpless and fearful. And that in turn makes me cynical. I think maybe I'd be happier if I reduced my intake on that stuff (and I'm almost certain I was happier before I started absorbing more politics.) They say happiness spreads, so if my happiness can make others happier too, then it'd certainly be more worthwhile than cynicism.

Anyway, I got a board test to go to tomorrow. Please wish me luck! I'm really crossing my fingers on this one.

Workin' for the weekend
There was a new Lunargyros page up on Friday; read it here.

This weekend has been fun as I've got to spend it with friends! Went to Disneyland on Friday with [livejournal.com profile] betwixt_worlds, and we had fun even though it started raining pretty hard. XD That's probably the only time I've seen no line for Dole whip floats. Just did stuff with no real worries in mind and talked a lot. I actually went into the Innoventions area, which I haven't before, and ate at the Storyteller's Cafe in the hotel, which was delish. :9

And then yesterday [livejournal.com profile] corrielle joined us and we just hung out for the day, watching Disney movies and playing Final Fantasy XIII or Angry Birds. XD We wanted to try out a new restaurant around Malibu for lunch, but it was closed on Saturdays, WTF.

I've created an animatic version of the Bremen Town Musicians board (that I was actually happy with, yay), but I need to post that later. I'm really hoping for some good things to get kicking next week. *crosses fingers*

Drawing: Need to do more; mostly been doing editing stuff

And another board
I've got one more storyboard to share with; this one got out a lot faster but ironically think is a bit better than yesterday's. I think those study-four-movies-a-week sessions are paying off...just in the sense I'm getting more of a feel for the "language" of movies.

In any case, short lil' section of a board for a Bremen Town Musicians animation! I've probably posted stuff from that before, because Bremen Town Musicians is one of my favorite fairy tales and I've never seen a really great animation of it. I wanna do it sometime.

Once again, lots of images under here )

Speaking of, I've updated my portfolio website with this new stuff, and a few other things.

Also, I'm having a really sudden and inexplicable urge for video game creepypasta...or just video game creepiness/scariness, especially of the oldschool variety. Not that I've played much of that at all ('cause I haven't), but still got an urge for some creepiness.

SO FLIST. Please link me some creepy/scary/interesting stuff from really oldschool games! Glitches, boss battles, certain weird areas, I don't care. Link me some YouTube (or otherwise) of it! FYI, I've already seen stuff like Pokemon Creepy Black, Lost Silver, the haunted Majora's Mask game, Giygas boss battle, and Eversion.

Drawing: Now that these are done, need to decide what to focus on next until some freelance thing picks up...

And the sun rises again
There's a new Lunargyros page up today; read it here.

Weekend with all sorts of friends and hanging out was pretty awesome. Been working most of the day on boarding since there's another employer preview days coming up, and I wanted new material to show around. So that's been taking up most all of my time.

Today I was cutting a slice of bread for myself for lunch, and I went and sliced up a nail on my left hand. DX ARRRRGH. Totally painful and blood everywhere and so completely not cool. I have it all wrapped up in bandages now, and I'm hoping the nail will heal, because there's a big jagged cut across it and it makes it really difficult to do anything with two hands. :(

Also, since I think I've pretty much come to a stopping point for them (for now), gonna post the Okami board I did! I was going to have it as an animatic with music, but nnnngh I couldn't get the timing satisfactory, so it's just stills. It's also probably the longest and most action-oriented one I've done. XD

Lotsa images under the cut )

Will post second board tomorrow, likely.

'Nother board dump
Going along with some of the other tiki room story stuff from before, here's a storyboard I drew up of part of one scene: in particular, Michael trying to teach some of the flowers to sing. Pierre drops in to watch.

(And again, please don't copy and past to other places, thanks!)

*flop*
Hey dudes, sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I've been working like crazy all weekend on this egg, and now that I've finished that I guess it's out of my hands. Time to play the waiting game again! I just really, really hope that a chicken hatches.

Holy crap, July is going to be IN-SAAAAAAAANE. A good kind of insane, but insane nonetheless. I've got to get ready for the madness that is Comic Con, which means another printing and organizing spree of portfolios and shopping trips and going through the programming schedule; awesometastic friends coming over to stay for awhile and related California-touring; a very long and involved commission project that I need to start sketching ideas for; birthday stuff and house cleaning and...*BRAIN ASPLODES*

Speaking of birthdays, since a couple've people have been asking, I was trying to think of stuff to ask for for my birthday. So, I came up with a (really short) wish list...

- Mostly I'd just really like some cash for the con. 8D That'll make me perfectly happy.
- I am in desperate need of some new KH keychains since my old ones have all but bitten the dust, so one of these little mascot keychains would be super cute.
- I am always up for MST3K I don't own yet.
- Otherwise, um...I like fic, I like art. Most dudes know what my fav pairings are; if not, just ask. |D

I am thinking of doing two things...one on my actual birthday-day at Disneyland, since so many cool people will be there then and all will be at D-Land anyway so it would be awesome to do stuff then! But I'd also like to see friends that I don't see enough, (Kel, Neko, Rae, Em, Alix, Beth, etc. I'm looking at YOU!) so would dudes be interested in doing something down here in Malibu, too? Please let me know! Wow that was really descriptive, wasn't it?

Drawing: Storyboaaaards all weekend, but there's more of them coming up...

Board Silly
Uugh, I was sick yesterday, and I think it's still lingering today. Trying to fight it off with lots of water and relaxing, and I really hope I'm better by tomorrow. I hate feeling unmotivated to do anything 'cause I'm too tired and congested.

Hope everyone in the states has a fun Memorial Day! I'll be spending it at work, as I usually do. 8D; The weather's really nice out; I bet the beach is going to be super crowded today.

Haven't been drawing as much as I'd like, but I did finish another storyboard for 'Scratch and the Tooth Troll'! This is one from the start of the story, when things go a little awry with the cursed urn.

Large images under the cut )

Thoughts are appreciated!

Second post whut?
Got back from two new classes today; Storyboarding and Intro to Compositing. The storyboarding class looks like it's going to be fun (although I have to go and buy more art supplies...) Teacher's interesting and a fount of knowledge, and very vested in this movie he's making that I can understand why no studio would pick up because it's on the bizarre side.

Anyways, in class today, we had to storyboard parts of a scene from The Descent.

Teeny Thumbnails! )

Otherwise, I now need to think of something to do for the Compositing class. We're using AfterEffects, which I've never used before, but so far seems like a hyped-up love child of Flash and Photoshop. The class is only five weeks long, so he's whizzing through the program at supersonic speed. o_o

Completed storyboard!
At last, all of that sitting and drawing has at least paid off in one area! :P Here's the completed practice storyboard that I want to stick in my portfolio, just to say HAY GUYZ I CAN STOREEBORED GUD. (At least, I hope it's good.)

This was pretty much all based out of my head and from what small observations I could glean from my internship long ago. If any persons out there have taken formal storyboarding classes or gotten instruction, constructive critique is greatly appreciated. Heck, constructive critique from anyone is appreciated.

WARNING: Image-heavy, dialup beware! )

And one more thing )

Still jobhunting; I called the temp place again today. :P But this week feels like too much of a holiday for me to pay attention to jobthings, so I'll work on arts as much as I can.

Man, I need to buy a Wii sometime soon. Sometime when I have monies. :O

Drawing: Finished this! Still working on doujin pages and Lunargyros pages. The time I was using on storyboard stuff will probably go towards working on giftarts now.

Writing: Finished a sporking, and finished a beta! Also wrote a smidge of a scene for LW. Need to work more on that, though, actually.
